They've removed your fees? How did you get them to do that? I had originally agreed to move to a new contract at the new property so i didn't have to pay the moving fee which they cannot fulfil. Surely that puts me in a new contract and they are then in breach of contract by not providing it? Also their website I've since seen says they can supply internet to the whole of the UK!

This is the page where Plusnet say they can supply broadband anywhere in the UK - first paragraph:
www dot plus dot net /home-broadband/faqs/

What they've said to me is that I'm in breach of contract because I'm moving and they've reverted me to my old contract rather than me new contract.

Any tips? I've not called them back yet and I have another 12 days before they refer it to debt collection.

I'm not sure they guarantee to provide broadband to every single address, it's a pretty generic statement that they provide service to all parts of the country, so not a regional provider.
If it were not for the fact that another contributor has said they were released from having to pay ETC's because of moving to a FTTP (only) address, then I would have said you wouldn't have much chance of them waiving the fee.

I would think you should question PN why others in this position were not charged ETC's when moving to a FTTP only area....more generally, I would think this is likely to become a contentious issue, as more and more developments are (Openreach) FTTP , and only a few Communication Providers currently offer access to it, even though it's made available to any CP that wants to buy access at wholesale and retail it themselves, apparently Ofcom are looking into ETC's , perhaps this situation is one of the reasons why they are looking , but I doubt if they will reach any conclusion in the near future

You can try and quote that paragraph (it certainly doesn't harm your case) as you were using that as fact when you signed up to your contract (if they ask ;) ). You're just going to have to keep trying with them as the post above proves it can be done, don't wait for them to phone back, they won't.

Out of interest, how far into the contract are you.
  • I've got 1 year left of it but I had agreed to sign up for a 24 month contract to avoid any move fees. They've said that they've cancelled this contract but my old 18 month contract that I'm 6 months into is reverted back. Surely when they stopped my old line at the old address that contract was cancelled and the new 24 month contract started (even though they didn't provide services).

They also did say to me in a message that they would reimburse me for any downtime during the move process. With this in mind I've got downtime for the remainder of my contract surely?

No, that doesn't give you a get out of jail free card I'm afraid.

    Again, no.

As said, keep trying (or pay the ETC's).

Well I managed to remove the ET fees however I had to pay £30 as the fee to BT to stop our services at the old address. It's not nothing but I can live with paying £30 to get the whole issue done and dusted. Thanks for your help everyone!
