Standalone excess insurance

I have used Bettersafe for the past 3 years and in July needed to make a claim for the first time. Not a biggie, just below £200. They were very quick and paid out in less than 2 weeks time.
As highlighted above - problems can happen if the car hire company do not supply you with the relevant documents (repair invoice).
The fact that YOU may be careful while driving does not prevent someone else being less careful. The damage I mention above was noticed when we came back to our PARKED car.0 -
I think it's quite a bit more.Malcnascar wrote: »How much is your own insurance when looked at per day cost?? Your insurance, if comprehensive, covers so much more than the so called comprehensive insurance provided by car hire companies. This has led to the top up insurances to give us the cover we prefer. Imagine if your own UK policy asked you to pay €20 per day on top of your comprehensive premium, thats €730 per year, on a Fiat 500 size car, would he buy it? If he says he would then go ahead and let him buy the top up at the hire desk.0 -
Thank you for everyone's advice. We looked at the feefo reviews for both Bettersafe and Insurance4carhire which seemed to be equal and so we've gone for Bettersafe's daily excess protection. I hope for my sake all goes well! 0

You don't say whether or not you have used Carcassonne Airport before. We have used it may times and the last time we were there in June 2016, the car hire arrangements had changed. As you came out of the terminal, the car hire offices were off to the right. This area is now being redeveloped and the car hire then was across the main road from the Airport, accessed via a subway.
Hope this helps, have a nice trip.0 -

Don't neglect to peruse their claims policy, so that you know which documents to obtain in the event of a claim. That way, you can obtain the documents on the spot, if possible.0
