OH's Galaxy S6 has a broken screen which is black as a result and so cannot be swiped. It still seems to have some life in it because it makes the "message the Home on the front, and blue light at top, to light up, if only briefly.

However the usual trick of holding down sound and on/off switches does not work to start it up again. As the S6 does not have a removeable battery, this is not an option. Plugging it into my PC, it can see the phone and return its basic spec but not display its contents.

We should like to try and recover at least some of the data from the phone company before getting a replacement from the phone company (it is on contract so you have to give it back to get a replacement).

I have downloaded Dr.Fone for recovering data from android phones but it turns out not to support data recovery from a damaged S6. Does anyone know of a data recovery program which can recover data from an S6 with a broken screen??

You may need to change the USB connection type on the phone when its connected to the computer, typically by default plugging in the device will just charge it.

Sometimes you can change this by swiping down from the top when the phone is connected, otherwise somewhere in the settings should do it. Failing that, going into the developer options and USB Mass Debugging option should do it.

Sorry, cannot access anything in the phone at present using the front as the screen is broken with no display and no swipe feature.

Can you explain again what I should be doing?

Most things will be backed up to your Samsung Account and Google account.

If you'd turned these of then try Samsung Smart Switch from the Samsung website which can sync some things to your PC.

Most users back up nothing at all .

Do you have the Samsung USB drivers installed on your PC ??

As far as i am aware the only likely route is to use ADB to connect and recover .

One of the problems is that the utilities out there which claim to recover data from a damaged Galaxy S6, turn out not to work beyond the S4.
