How quick will a Plusnet -> Vodafone broadband switch be?

I'm currently paying £33.99 a month to Plusnet and our contract has finished.
Looking up broadband prices, it seems Vodafone are the cheapest at £20/m.
I plan to try and haggle Plusnet down to match it, though failing that I'll switch.
Will it be an instant switch over or will I have to wait a month or two like when originally setting up the phone line?

Which broadband package you looking at?
All advertised pricing on Vodafone's consumer pages include vat.
Currently it should be £20 pm for 18 months on the Fibre 38 plan and £24 pm on the 76 plan.0 -

same as what i am seeing, from the vodafone website page as well
Payment: Payment is by Direct Debit. Please note that VAT is included in the advertised prices and charges where required and is applied at the UK standard rate in force unless otherwise stated.
so it should be £20 a month including VAT for the 38 and £24 for the 76mb, looks like you are getting your packages mixed upDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Ah you're right, I was checking the speeds I could get from the higher one too and must have got them muddled up.
Thanks!
But back to the original question, how quick would it be to switch?0 -
It will probably depend if your current Plusnet connection is on an LLU exchange. If it is, then they will have to manually transfer service at the exchange. There may also be a Plusnet cease charge.
It will also depend on whether Vodafone provide LLU at your exchange
If your Plusnet is already provided on the BTW/OR network (Plusnet usually charge more for this) and Vodafone are also on the BTW/OR network (ie not on LLU) then the change can probably be done remotely and usually very quickly.
This should give you the information

When going from Sky (LLU) to PlusNet, I had to give Sky two weeks' notice by instructing PlusNet at that time and the latter said changeover would be around 10 working days (14 actual days) and the change was spot on time, taking less than an hour, ( I went out for an hour, as Sky went down so don't have an exact time.)
This seems to be similar for others, except for Virgin who have a different system.
My PlusNet minimum term ends on a Friday, meaning any changeover (back to Sky) should be on the following Saturday, but PlusNet's site says they don't do ceases on weekend days, so it may be on the following Monday. (That's unless Sky take a day early, which may incur an early leaving charge, but I imagine this will be cheaper than paying two extra days for a later migration ).
Please let us know how you go on, as I need to get something sorted in a few weeks' time. (Stay with PN or go back to Sky,all down to cost, including PlusNet to LLU £30 charge)0 -
I phoned up to cancel plusnet and got through to "customer options". They asked why I was leaving and I stated that the contract had ended and I found a better deal elsewhere. They wanted to know with who, and how much, but after I told them they said "they can't match it" and that I just had to sign up to Vodafone and the Vodafone guys would handle the transfer.
So now it's scheduled to switch over on the 10th Oct so will see how it goes.0 -
good move as I don't think vodafone sting you after the minimum term.
Good luck.0
