Thanks again to all of you. Isn't that other forum a lovely happy place? Wish I'd asked for their obvious superior knowledge first!

Apologies to the nation for causing the current housing crisis. Don't know what I was thinking - boy, is my Mum going to be mad!

    I just came accross this!

    Did this surprise you dannyboycey?

I suppose this forum doesn't have an agenda unlike the other one mentioned here. I must admit i come on here for a laugh I genuinely believe members of the other forum are desperately involved in something and will take any evidence available to compound their beliefs.
I do tend to feel sorry for people praying for a crash in hope of being able to buy a house, a high percentage of the population have been priced out.
When the crash comes if it does and the economy implodes i wonder if any of the prophets will come on here to say "I told you so!!". I for one won't. I'll probably lose my job as a car salesman as when a recession hits we suffer, not to worry.

Agreed. It's just a more expensive car boot sale ....

Me: What do you want for that mirror?

    You: £10

Me: Will you take a fiver for it ( ;) )

You: I'll not settle on less than £7.50

    Me: Done deal :D

So you see .... I was only "willing" to pay a fiver for it, but you (silver-tongued shyster you) talked me up to £7.50!!!

Now then .... who's the mug?

And, more importantly, who set the price???? :rotfl:

    How much for the gourd?

we had our cash offer turned down last week for £210k (£10k under asking price too)

but the sellers did stress that they had already reduced by £10k. now had offer accepted
  • i would snatch their hand off....my opinion is not based on any facts whatsoever by the way...
but this is one thing i know, as i considered buying myself in the summer

i left my details with 5 local EA's back in March (b4 IR rises), heard nothing then in the past 3 weeks all 5 have rung me, 3 more than once, they got extremely excited when i told them i had a 15k deposit as a FTB....

but not so keen when i said i thought oblivion was around the corner and that i would want 20%discount off before i would consider buying anything.lol

to my surprise 2 of those have rung me since saying they had suitable properties that were up for negotiation AROUND that figure.

now why would EA's chase me up 7/8 months AFTER i first enquired if the housing market was buoyant? because its as buoyant as vanessa felts with concrete booties on.......

i wish you well with the sale, bank the wedge now my friend

also look at auction figures up and down the country for a good reflection of what houses are worth, not the spin figures published by so called experts
when the tide goes out we shall see who has been swimming naked

I'm thinking Vanessa Feltz would float quite nicely.

    Hi All,
If anyone has any advice/ experience/ thoughts they'd be gratefully received!
I put my flat on the market in June for £125,000. It's empty as I have moved in with my partner. After many viewings but no offers (all feedback said it was lovely but too small) I reduced the price last week to £119,950. Today I've had a cash offer of £109,000. I've said no as it's too low too early.
What are the advantages of a cash offer?
    Ta!

Minus 9% Offer after already dropping is low. I would go back and say you really wanted £115K but are willing to think about £112K to meet half way.
Minus 7% is not bad an offer in todays climate.

Cash offer often just means nothing to sell. A good thing not be in a chain.
