After all of your bills... how much do you have left over?

Just a general nosy question really. I've always wondered what the 'average' amount of money people have left over, after bills, is... and what do you do with it? What is a good ratio in terms of proportion of income used for bills?

What do you call bills? Do you count the weekly food shop as a bill?

Would be helpful to state weekly or monthly too, £180 a week would be a smiley face for most. ;)

Around £1000 a month but we are overpaying the mortgage and trying to up our emergency fund as well as saving for some home improvements and holidays so a chunk of that is already allocated so I don't really class it as leftover, after set transfers at the end of the month just before payday I transfer everything except £50 to savings.

As a household I think around £2500 a month. Me personally maybe £400.00. Mine goes on holidays mainly. Hubby would either stick in savings, use on his hobby or again holidays etc.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

£1800 a month. Split between overpaying mortgage, savings and holiday fund.

No idea really. I just spend on essentials ( and a few treats :D) getting the best prices I can.:money:

Everything else goes to various accounts and stays there until we want to pay for a holiday or something expensive for our home.

It's an impossible question to answer as what you spend and what's left over depends on income.

Of course it is, but it's also a wonderful opportunity for people to casually mention how well off they are. :)
