Search for washer dryer? 39 results.

Ah okay, I was looking at washing machines then ctrl+f for "tumble" - didn't see anything.

One thing I notice is that:

A separate tumble dryer uses about 560-615 kWh/year.

A separate washing machine uses about 230 kWh/year.

A combined washer dryer uses about 230 kWh/year.

Not entirely sure how this converts into £s.

A washer/dryer is a washing machine with dryer bits added so as a washing machine it will work the same as a separate washing machine. So I assume the "230kWh/year" are just for washing. Then for a washer/dryer add more than the 560-615 for drying because it won't be as efficient as a separate dryer.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

those washer dryer numbers look like just washing numbers.

if you want efficient look for heat pump dryers.

look at price spy for a much wider range and pricing then look at more places than Argos like AO and currys.

look at the A ratings first they are weighted for load sizes then look at the kwh for the wash and drying and combined.

From personal experience the two washer dryers I had both broke quite early on into their lifetime [1 year, and 18 months]. The washing machines I've had spearately have never broken yet [ 7 years plus and now 2 years]

    That's a good website. Thanks.
  • when I have looked into this in the past (we have a small kitchen with space for only one unit), I came to the conclusion that you have to spend a LOT of money to get a reliable, efficient washer-dryer. e.g., there is a Bosch one around the £1.4k mark which is meant to be very good.

We make do without a dryer.

I had a look on the PriceSpy website for washer dryers with Energy efficiencies of "A" and wash capacity of at least 9kg and a price of less than £420.

There are some available within this criteria. Though I don't know their reliability:

I have recently used a zanussi washer/dryer, and it did a pretty good job. However the drying took an age. At home I have separates so the dryer drying a load of towels can do it in 2hours.
This w/d took about 4hours for a similar load.
Don't know how that pans out electric wise but just on the week I used it, probably double electric usage.

Still I may get one with the next kitchen, just so I can have a dishwasher which I also used for a week
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥
  • The dryers on washer-dryers are usually a bit pants.
If you do a lot of tumble drying then definitely go for separate machines, but if it's just the occasional item I'd get the combined one.
