As said by many, what a wonderful thread!
I love the look of these boxes pink_numbers, do you know if it is still possible to buy the same size? I see on another post that someone thought they were the same as thriftylady's, who said they were from Lakeland, but looking on the Lakeland site I can't see any that are as small as yours. They only seem to have 400ml, 750ml, 1.2L and 1.5L.
(Can't post link as new user - but they are under Stack a Boxes)
It would great to find some as tiny as yours - it looks as though you can fit loads in! Many thanks.0 -

Fantastic thread, as many have said, it just makes me want a bigger/second freezer (freecycle...)
Sad it may be but I also freeze wine in ice cube trays, although its much nicer to drink it... and I freeze egg whites in the bottom of tiny freezer boxes and bag them up afterwards to avoid the guessing game of how many there are when making meringues...
Nothing new from me but thanks all for such great tips!0 -
Bumping this thread. I have had some brilliant Ys food over the last few weeks, and as I have been freezing, I unpacked them, then replaced into portions, along with, for example, making mashed pots for the fish pie, thick white sauce to go with it. If I had had the right size containers I would have made the dishes up and frozen, but I had to manage with the containers/freezer bags I had.
We also bought some reduced organic chickens and DH jointed them, then I froze in bags of breasts, legs and wings, thighs, and used the 3 carcasses to make stock, which was reduced right down and portioned into 4.
All helps reduce cost and equally importantly makes it easy to prepare dinner.

Great thread, some really good ideas for freezing.
I freeze lots of mashed potato, defrosts perfectly and just needs reheated in microwave.
Also mashed turnip or mashed turnip and carrot freezes well. I batch cook things like mince, casserole, chicken etc so find that the mashed potatoes and turnip along with a defrosted portion of cooked mince is a no effort meal for hubby when I'm away on business.
Lots of sliced lemon and lime for drinks and I've recently taken to filling ice cube trays with leftover cream to use in sauces.
People say pasta doesn't freeze well however macaroni cheese has always been another winner for me. I do tend to make the cheese sauce more runny than normal as if seems to thicken in freezing.
Sometimes buy yellow stickered baguettes and partly slice spreading a generous amount of garlic butter inside the sliced bits. I put them straight in the oven without defrosting first, cook for about 13-15 minutes and perfect garlic bread.
I'm sure there is more I have forgotten, once I've checked my list I may be back to add to this. (I'm sad enough to have a write on/wipe off notepad thing with a list of freezer contents.)0
