  • What a fantastic article and well deserved. Thank you to everyone who posts and helps in any way. It is a very friendly place indeed
  • Hi,

This is my first post here. Comping is fairly new to me, (still yet to win haha), but the overall scene and camaraderie of those here has been really nice to see. As the whole thing, at least on this site, is based around helping others and then congratulating them if they win.

So, I'll go back to lurking now, but I agree with the sentiment. This forum is very cool and full of genuinely nice people :)

    Fame at last! :rotfl:

Always found everyone so helpful and supportive here and I thank everyone who contributes from the bottom of my heart.

    Long may we last.
  • I lost my husband to cancer and came to comping to fill my lonely evening and weekends. People on here have been kinder to me than people that know me so thank you I am so glad that its been acknowledged officially

Probably cos we're not allowed to communicate on posts ;) Seriously, yep, people are generally VERY polite, friendly and helpful! :D

    Congrats all  x
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*
  • It is a nice article and I agree that people on here are nearly always very friendly and kind. I would have to disagree that we are the luckiest people - it is actually all down to hard work and letting statistics do the rest! Enter enough competitions and the probability of winning at least one keeps increasing.

I have to also say that if MSE is so proud of us, which is great, could they pay a little more attention to how the forum is set up for compers and listen to us please? The removal of links opening in new tabs automatically is still a pain for some compers, and it really would be helpful to have a few more stickies, such as the take a break and puzzler threads. There will be other potential improvements of course.

Hope this is not seen as too negative - just seemed a good opportunity to ask our proud parents for a bit more help and support please!

    Hi rugmaker

We do listen, I promise, and are aware it's difficult for some people (it took me a bit of getting used to) but we can't do everything forum users would like and especially need to put your security first. Right clicking a thread gives you the option to open in a new tab.

We cut down on stickies across the forum a while back to help people see newer content better but those threads are linked to in the sticky at the top:

    Hope that helps!

    Andrea :)

  • Thanks for replying Andrea. Afraid I'm not convinced about the security threat as I don't know of any other site that seems to have this issue.

On the stickies point, the take a break and puzzler threads go to game over almost weekly, I think because of the expired button on every post on the new forum layout. Adding 2 more stickies would save a huge amount of effort for both compers and board guides without, I think, rendering the forum unreadable! The debt free wannabe board has 6 stickies - struggling to see why different rules apply there, as an example. It would also be good to be able to add the advent thread as a sticky when it starts. All of these threads regularly include new content so would still meet your objective.
