O/S Daily Monday 18th September 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Lunch yesterday was half leg of lamb, was lovely, but no LO's except 4 yorkshires we had roasties, mash, HG runner beans, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Menfolk went out in the morning whilst I prepped the lunch and pack ups to do a couple of errands, once they'd left I realised we were going to buy a sack of potatoes whilst we were out, texted them to ask them to buy them and, of course, they came home without them! So I need to do that on the way home from work tonight. We just chilled yesterday afternoon.
I did remember to get the chicken out to defrost last night, so tonight dinner will be chicken in a country sauce, potatoes, and veg.
Back to work today for me, we'll see what sort of day we get, I'm also working this Saturday, so although it's a pain it's nice when you get paid the extra.
I'm also trying to use up more from the freezers and store cupboards, I have loads in them and as the weather has turned cooler, I'm going to have a sort through the inside freezer as I know I have a habit of bagging up odd bits of veg, raw or LO cooked and shoving it in the freezer, with the thought I'm not throwing anything away but then it doesn't get used, hoping to be able to make some sort of soup out of what I find for lunches (it'll only be me that eats it but I'm fine with that). Also want to cut down the grocery spends, it's still too much.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to those in need.
I'm off to work in a sec, counting down the days.
I managed to cook a weeks worth of lunches for CHS as he's on the late shift this week.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for the start nmlc x
Hester - that's great prepping, wish I could be as organised!
Dinner tonight is SW slow cooked pulled pork. I seared the pork joint last night and made the sauce, so just had to put it in the slow cooker this morning. I detest going to work stinking of cooking first thing in the morning so by prepping last night it helped.
Main department heads are in an all day meeting today. I need to print some bank statements for a meeting with a financial advisor on weds (we went paperless several years ago).
Hoping to visit the gym tonight after work.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone,
Thanks you for starting us off nmlc
It sounds like you have a good holiday TravelingAbuela I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
I didn’t sleep very well again so I think it is going to be a day of not doing too much. It’s forecast to rain from lunch time so it looks like being a wet and miserable afternoon, just the weather for staying in and reading.
I had a nice afternoon yesterday; my brother brought my sister in law and niece over to collect my nephew, and stayed a couple of hours. It was nice to see the family and have a good catch up with them all.
Dinner will be a beef and red wine casserole. Everything is prepped and I just need to put it in the slow cooker. I’ll have that with some rice and there are some green beans that are going a bit limp so I’ll use them up as well.
I had better go and get organised, I need some tea and something for breakfast.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing0 -
Good morning everyone.
It's decidedly colder this morning though it's dry, so far.
I think the septic tank has been dealt with, my gravel out front is all disturbed and some grass round the stank is messed up, perhaps from a tanker. Certainly my upstairs piping is no longer gurgling.
This morning I'm got a few phone calls to get done and then I'm going into college to do some work on the network. My cleaner is coming so I like to be out when she's here.
Nothing too exciting here. I hope snoozer gets better soon.
Happy Monday to all.0 -
Morning all
It feels much cooler here this morning its like its the end of Oct not Sept, no heating on yet but the log burner has been on a few nights.
Back to work today the weekends go in such a flash, we got a lot of little jobs done though so all good.
Dinner tonight will be some filled pasta with garlic bread and a tomato salad, nice and quick for a Monday evening.
Windows being fitted the end of this week :jI cant wait that will be the whole of the outside of the house done then, although the back garden will want doing soon.
Right I had better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc
Chilly this morning, not sure what today will bring.
I need to sort the freezer, keeps finding UFOs.
Changed some curtains yesterday. Don't like them much but they have a thermal backing which makes such a difference at keeping the heat in.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Good morning, dry here (so far) but chilly. We are still trying not to put the heating on.
Work today and I am tired after a couple of poor nights but hey ho its a living. I've made an apple cake to take in and have a late start as I have a call to make before going to the office.
Time to get ready, hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. The sun is shining here but a look at the forecast tells me it isn't going to last - rain this afternoon. Where is it all coming from!
I have decided soup weather is upon us so a big pan of red pepper is already simmering away. To be followed by a big pan of lentil and bacon. A warming lunch with some crusty bread on a chilly day. There should be room in the chest freezer I think for all the individual pots, with much juggling around. The upright is packed and we intend to eat from that for a few weeks to save a bit of cash.
I need to pop down to M & S this morning. I ordered some trousers into store before our hol and they need to go back. They are supposed to be short (for my stumpy little legs) and they are trailing on the floor! It seems their short length is no longer 27" and I can't be ar*ed shortening them.
Not much else planned for today, other than watching Victoria on catch-up as I fell asleep last night waiting for it to start.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad and worried who want them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
I'm so pleased it's monday! Peace and quiet and I can get on with things properly.
My heating is on for a couple of hours in the mornings, it's a bit too chilly for me and miss tru doesn't do well on cold mornings either. Man-trus don't care much but would probably prefer it if it was off.
I'm going to get stuck into work this morning and get as much as possible out of the way by lunchtime. I was hoping to get some jobs done in the garden, but rain is forecast so work it is. Crochet and sleep later, Scampi has been waking me up in the middle of the night for the last few nights and I can't get back to sleep. I end up getting up to make a cuppa and it takes a couple of hours to drop back off. It's caught up with me and I'm flagging a bit. I had a chat with him and told him he's a furry menace but he took no notice

Morning all,
Slept awfully last night. One of the hounds needed to go out and I couldn't settle afterwards.
Men gone to work and the house is quiet. It's Grumps last week at work. It's the end of the job anyway but he's quit a couple of weeks early. He decided he couldn't stand the job any longer. He's got nothing in the pipeline till February but I'm hoping he will find something else before then. My sanity depends on it.
Just remembered, I forgot to take the meat out the freezer for tea tonight grrr!
Might try and find out how to use the telly today. It's got 2 remotes and scares me. Still think it's too big...but what do I know?
Onwards and forwards
