Currently with Virgin but looking to change, how can I ensure switching providers with no loss of service?

I switched from Sky to EE a couple of weeks ago. Lost the phone for about two hours and Broadband for about 4 hours. Sky disconnected am and EE connected few hours later. EE state that you should be connected by midnight on the day of the switch. One comment I'll make is that your broadband can be very slow and intermittent for 10 days following your switch, mine varied between 0 Mbps and 15 Mbps during this time, evidently this is due to your isp monitoring your connection so they can get you the best possible speed.0

I also switched to EE but from the post office. The post office decided to cut of my broadband 5 days before the switch, I did contact them about this but they refused to do any thing about it as I was leaving them, but left my phone on to the day of the switch. EE connected my broadband and phone first thing in the morning on the date they gave.Sealed pot challenge member 4370

If you don't mind paying two providers for a month, order the new service from your chosen Openreach based provider and then when its up and working, give Virgin 30 days notice. As they use different infrastructure, the two services can happily co-exist.0

As said VM do not use BT OR infrastructure so the swap will be from your new ISP start date and VM from when you end it .
None of the comments switch from EE or Sky etc are relevant as you are not on that infrastructure .0
