You say 2007 now but you choose not to in in late 90s or so you said. Oh crash you donmake me laugh. I bought not quite at peak in 2006 I've actually sold my flat for £18k less than I bought it for (due to wanting a quick sell and btl investors in my area selling a lot of their stock) however other side of country where my friends live property has gained on average £100k in that time.
Am I jealous no because they became mortgage free but are having the borrow about same as I am for their next step on the ladder. In last 11 years yes it's cost me. Bit but no one has been able to kick me out at a moments notice and I now have enough paid off that I can buy a nice big 4 bed house that rent would be at least £3oo a month more than I will pay in mortgage.
Therefore in my area we have had a crash but buying was still the best answer for me for security if nothing else0 -

Have sold property many times in the past for 3 times what I purchased for, however, I have always bought a property to be a home, not as an investment. So whilst the property has gone up in price so has what I have had to pay for the next one. I find it sad these days that many look at purchasing as an investment and not a home.0 -

So you sold a flat at a nearly 20k loss on the 2006 price, and now you can afford a "nice big 4 bed"...not sure I follow the pattern there....and you have not been kicked out in 11 years, well neither have I, so what is your point exactly?0 -

That crash has been and gone you missed it.
small sample round here the low point was 2012/13 now 40% up on 2007 prices after that crash0 -
