Rightmove - do sold houses show up as 'new'?

I look at new properties on rightmove every day and I normally run my searches to include SSTC properties.
I know that when a price drops that it shows up again as new and that agents can also manipulate it somehow that properties that are stale pop up as new as well, even without a price drop.
Often, when they mark a property as being sold, it pops up as new also. Is this automatic or is additional manipulation by the agent required?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?!

I think so!!!
Sometimes it shows up as new by mistake - the agent has updated the file (possibly to show it's SSTC) and either "got it wrong" or RM has a bug whereby it shows up as new. At least, this is what happened to me on a rental property.
It came up as new (email to show new properties added to my search). I called immediately, only to be told that a let had been agreed, but they'd recently updated RM and "it must have taken it to be a new listing".
So .... be cautious.
As I say, I can't tell whether it's "user error" on the part of the EA or a glitsch in RM's system.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

I thought Rightmove properties only showed up as new when the agent initially lists them. I've got houses saved which have had price drops since I saved them, but they didn't show up in a new search when it happened. Sometimes agents delist a property then put it back on at the new price to make it show up in a new search.0

Around here, properties sstc on Haarts are ALWAYS flooding the new listings - I just assumed they did it on purpose as part of their bizzare marketing along with their 'quirky' openers...0

Yeah, I'm wondering if it's just certain agents. Some of the houses I've saved have come up as sold without me seeing them as new, I think, so perhaps it is the agents manipulating it all.
You can never remember properly when you want to though

It depends on how the agent uploads to Rightmove, if they do it manually then changes to the record can sometimes show as a New Instruction.
If they upload to Rightmove automatically from their website then it should only show as a New Instruction when it it first put on.
I think it's 'user error' rather than a Rightmove glitch
If that makes any sense!
EDIT.....This annoys me too...especially when I'm trying to keep a check on how many "new" properties are coming onto the market. Luckily, as an agent, I have access to the admin site to check with properties are actually "new" instructions! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

Talking of user error, too many London flats are listed as houses, as are too many shops. And too many studio flats claim to be 1 bedroom.Been away for a while.0

What a shambles - never noticed that before (but then, I'm not looking for those types of property and not in London).Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

I agree. Plenty of 'detached studios' in my part of the world  Infinitely annoying that I have to search through every single property for the fact that EAs can't input data correctly. A house not appearing in someone's search at all is going to be pretty damaging to the number of hits they receive!
Also I can't search for detached houses. :wall: Why not? It 's easy enough to have a more detailed search criteria that would (potentially, grr) only bring up properties that fitted a more precise criteria.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It would also be nice to sift out part ownership homes, auctions, retirement properties, mobile homes, garages, and even beach huts. Although mustn't complain, many a long nightshift has been passed searching for homes around the country.Been away for a while.0

I've often thought that. Particularly since this Phirefly can only thrive in a watery habitat.0
