They can do what they like - and will.

Nonsense, there is no requirement for any jobseeker to give a work coach access to their account.

Posts like these really are not helpful.
  • Just to reinforce - my views on the benefit system generally are pretty unspeakable. However, I do see the logic in them wanting you to circulate your CV as widely as possible, and from their POV that means using their system.

I should also say that despite my views on the system, I was not treated with anything except respect by the staff I encountered whilst using it. I also found that bracing myself, going in with a smile on my face and being pleasant and friendly to all the staff I encountered really helped!

(I would have found it difficult doing this if I hadn't had a good bank balance. They completely screwed up my claim, closed the claim for 10 weeks because THEY had lost paperwork and generally behaved like incompetent idiots - the Belfast end, anyway. I could see from the notes on the system at my local end that they were really trying to be helpful. I did finally get an apology and all back pay, but life would have been difficult if I had been relying on this money to eat :( )

Relative to specifically what i quoted on (that you removed and then went off on a tanget) yes they can. They can hold you accountable for not following their rules or making a mistake, however they can make mistakes and noone will be held accountable.

If you want JSA, you need to do what the Jobcentre ask you to do. It's a reasonable request.

What a load of carp. Its not reasonable. UJM is not fit for purpose

Here is one for all you jsa benefit bashers. Just Surpose you allow them access and your two weeks job search on computer for some reason or another has disappeared. Do you think they will believe you if you say you definitely saved it?

One good reason to never allow them access to your account

I didn't remove anything, the quote function doesn't work for me for some reason.

I'm not a benefit basher BTW. Im on universal credit. I tend to do most of my job search away from ujm and then just update my notes on the system

Sites like indeed will send you an
email receipt when you apply for a job.

Given that the OP doesn't need to allow access at all what is the issue?
  • I came off jsa a month ago. I refuse them access to my Account and was treated like S**t by the advisers. Always asked why don't you allow us access. My standard reply because I dont need too.
  • ..

Yeah and you also probably didn't come across as a dole dodger / unemployed loophole specialist. That makes all the difference.

    Hiya,

When I was on JSA I did not allow the DWP access to my UJM account. I provided all evidence of my job search clerically.

When they said I have to upload my CV to the account, they accepted a screenshot as proof that I had done it. They did not request access.

Then I just removed my CV after taking the screenshot.

Well yes, but my point is that smiling and being pleasant and generally willing (although I stuck my heels in about access to my account, and kept detailed notes in their little book instead) was part of the presentation that convinced them that I wasn't trying to take the state for all I could get.
