microsoft win 10 updates

Why are microsoft win 10 updates such a major three part long winded excerise that takes forever?

It seems every update reinstalls the operating system everytime.

Has microsoft just lost it's way nowadays?

    1. Set your active hours to your normal computer usage time e.g. 6am - midnight; during this period you will never be asked to restart your PC
    2. when you switch off at the end of the day, if it says "restart neeed" select "update and shutdown" and leave your computer on overnight to let it do its thing.

Turned on my laptop the other day after about six weeks of no use.
6 hours later my win updates were finished & intalled along with something called Creator ??
Completely & utterly removed all the audio off my laptop.
4 or 5 hours later after searching Dr Google AND Microsoft for a fix I gave up & had to do a restore...........
Not entirely happy with these largely unstoppable win 10 updates.

The major updates are a complete new OS so take longer. It seems your computer hadn't had the latest major update (called the Creator's update) when you last used it and it got it when you turned it on again.
  • I had an update last night which I was surprised to find went through in about 15 minutes.

Yip. The world has went to phone and tablets, rather than wait for Windows 10 to do it's updates.
Maybe someday Dell and HP will sue Microsoft for destroying the computer market by releasing Windows 8 and 10.
