You're not going to be able to wriggle out on an address technicality. Yes, the judgement is in your name but they've contacted you at the address you gave them. I'd focus on the other advice in wgl2014's post and the FAQs you've been signposted to. The address situation is incidental.0

I need some advice re a ccj. It was given to me from a private company and I just ignored it which is what I thought was the right thing to do. I am paying the fine monthly plus a card fee. Can I get this ccj removed as I was always told the private companies can't legally fine you. But I need to get ccj removed as it will badly affect my credit rating0

You have a ccj registered against you for 6 years once a month has passed from the date of judgement.
When you finally pay it off you can get the ccj marked "satisfied" to indicate you paid it but your credit status does remain blighted.0 -

It's not a fine; it's a bill. They will claim the terms of the contract were set out on the signs in the car park. You didn't pay the bill, so they took you to court. You either didn't defend the case, or lost it, so the court now says you owe them the money.
You could appeal, but it would probably cost you more than the money you owe.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Hi
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section.
I received a CCJ order in my name at my parents address (this was the address I used when appealing to The car parking company).
Anyway the letter was received later than the date advised and 14 days has passed.
Can I still request an extension to 28 days?
Also does it make a difference that they have written to my parents address where I am not registered?
Getting rather nervous so would appreciate some help please.
Regards
MK
By the sound of it you've received a claim form, not a judgement.
Look at the issue date. The service date is deemed to be 5 days after this.
Now add 14 days. That is the latest day that you can acknowledge service and get an extra 14 days to enter a defence or part-defence.
You can do this online.
If 14 + 5 days have passed, you are out of time and will be receiving the ccj soon as the claimant requests a 'judgement in default'0 -

Not necessarily.
A default judgment isn't automatic.
The claimant needs to request judgement.
If they haven't done so yet and you get a defence in before they do then that will prevent s default judgment.
If you are within the 14 days from service allowed to do an acknowledgement then do that immediately and get another 14 days to prepare a defence0 -

No, a CCJ is applied to a person not an address, as is the case with all debt.
However, I do think the OP would be foolish to ignore it.0 -
Final query as I'm not registered at my parents place, can I not just ignore it?
Don't want to ever pay any debts ever again?
Just make sure that you give an incorrect address to the person that the money is owed to and even if they take you court and the court finds in their favour, you will never have to pay.0
