Aldershot hospital and Smart Parking

Hi,
We have just received a parking charge notice for overstaying the parking time by about half an hour. While we don't dispute this is the case (Smart parking have helpfully provided photographic evidence of the car entering and leaving the car park), the reason for this was that the hospital clinic was running late, and what should have been under a 1 hour stay turned out to be about an hour and a half, which obviously cannot be predicted when entering the car park.
What is the best course of action in this case, as I think the £100 charge they have issued (£60 if paid in 14 days) is unreasonable given the reason for the delay.
Maybe writing to the hospital (landowner) and asking them to cancel the ticket?
Maybe contacting the hospital to ask for evidence they clinic was running late then writing to Smart Parking with this evidence?
All advice gratefully received!

    Yes, do that.
But I think you may need to be more forceful.
    Perhaps change "asking" to insisting".

First stop is to contact PALS at the hospital.

  • So PALS were useless and just pointed us in the direction of the appeals process with Smart Parking themselves. Grrrrr

Escalate your complaint at the hospital.

But also follow the appeal process as set out in the newbies FAQ thread

as I attempted to pay previously, what did you say to PALs? you need to post anything you want to say on here first. otherwise your either waste this time, shoot yourself in the foot, or both.

The trouble is that PALS don't have a clue about these
    financial terrorists

Smart have been kicked out of many places including Asda
and one of their staff was jailed for fraud.

If PALS remotely think that Smart are a responsible car park
operator they are living in the clouds

Read up about the very unprofessional Smart Parking
and insist that PALS look again at your complaint

It is worth noting that PALS would not employ anyone
with such a bad record as Smart have, so why are they
employing Smart in the first place

Don't do that until you've read the NEWBIES thread. Use the BPA template, as keeper (NOT driver).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
