white zig - zag lines either side of a zebra crossing, but in the middle of the road.

Hello all, found this unusual zebra crossing today. the crossing has additional paving on both sizes, which is the width of a car.

The white zig zag lines are not painted on each of the four sides of the crossing, but are the same distance as the paving, so almost in the middle of the road.

The distance almost allows cars to park, on the side of the road, without touching the zig zag lines. Is this legally parked, or should receive a instant ticket??

The zig-zag lines, wherever they are, define the 'controlled area' of the crossing, which extends to the full width of the road. It is an offence to stop within the controlled area (with certain exceptions) so, no, you can't park. And it's an offence that carries 3 points, so not just a 'ticket'.

Thanks, I have never seen white zigzag lines like that before, where the lines are actually on the far side of the vehicle, as appose to the near side.

Its a parking bay close to a crossing. I would view that as outside the carriageway and OK to park in.

Looks like you can park, but I would be wary of touching / straddling any of the white lines just in the case there are keen eyed traffic wardens in the area.
