Get going insurance

I. Have booked for a package holiday to Orlando on the 5 th October 2017 and have contacted my insurance about possible problems occurring e.g. Flooding at the resort due to hurricane Irma.

They have informed me I will NOT be covered due to

Under not being able to use pre booked accomdation
"No cover is provided for any claim when a natural disaster happened BEFORE you left home"

does this apply to the whole holiday eg flights, accomdation, Disney tickets, train fares?

When asking the insurance, she 'hung up on me'

This is for flight delays/cancellations only. I would suggest your travel insurance is useless. The whole point of the insurance is you are covered from the start date of the policy. However if your policy doesn't start until your actual travel date you may have limited cover. Perhaps you should have a good read through the small print of your policy?
Personally I always take out an annual insurance policy, if required, then your covered 365 days of year.
