Closing Down Sale...?

There is a shoe shop near here which has the notice "CLOSING DOWN SALE" in very large letters. It's only when you get up close that you see (in much smaller letters) "Central Warehouse". So actually the shop is not closing down, just one of its warehouses !What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Same here, a book shop always seems to be closing for refurbishment..."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

sports world had a closing down sale about the time they offered me a job the first time (they offered about 5 times in total), apparently they only have to be closed down for an hour outside of normal opening times for it to countthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

They don't actually have to be sold. Just "available for sale". This even means just simply having it on the books and the only way a customer would even know they had the item to buy it would be to specifically ask for it. They had an episode on DFS sales on The Bull**** Detective. They never even have to sell one item at the previous price in order to claim "discounted from...". Basically loophole in the law, so although they're following the letter of the law it's not in the spirit of the law for what it was intended."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

There was an item on BBC's Bull***t Detective about DFS never ending sales and Alasdair Jefferey attempted to track down where exactly, if ever, were these sofas, furniture and beds for sale at full price (requirement by law). Turned out no manager in any of the branches has had them ever displayed to customers at full price, but at some point they were catalogued at that mythical full price, in manager's pricebook, in one of the stores, without being diplayed at the time, but in theory still available for purchase.
So basically keeping items in your locked garage with price of £££ for few weeks entitles you start massive 50% sale in store one day.0 -

Someone recently complained about a shop doing this in our town so they just changed the sign to "Clothing down sale" and yet there were still people walking past saying "oh look (insert random store name here) is closing down"
People read what they want to read and almost never look at the small print on "SALE" signs.0
