How much cash on Spanish holiday
Eleanory
We are three adults who will be going to Spain for 8 nights in mid-October. How much currency do we need to take? We will be self-catering, no car-hire and intend to apply for a Halifax Clarity Card. Thanks.

I wouldn't take a penny and just withdraw what I need fee free at the MasterCard exchange rate via an ATM as and when I need it using my Monzo account.

Take none, leave you money in pounds until spending or withdrawing cash from ATMs. Monzo or Loot Prepaid cards will cost nothing and be useful backup or alternatives to the Clarity card. Do not rely on any single card, in case of any loss or problem. Buying cash euros then perhaps having to change some back to pounds is not necessary or economical. How much currency do we need to take?Evolution, not revolution0 -
Monzo limits the number of times and the total amount that you can withdraw via an atm.
See section 17 of the terms and conditions.

Otherwise it's a great card.0 -

Thanks everyone. I'd never heard of Monzo. I used a Halifax Clarity card in Europe ten years ago but closed the account. I am not employed so I'll ask my husband to apply for one. That same year I brought a pre-loaded card and it was refused in the first restaurant I tried to use it in. I had to use my debit card to get cash and pay the fee. We feel happier with cash plus one credit card in case we can't get to an ATM or it isn't working or something. I'll check out Monzo now.0

It's £250 a day, max £1,000 per month unless you have enhanced identity verification and you won't get that straight away. Enhanced limits are for trusted users only.0 -
