Good Hair Straighteners???

DD has requested hair straighteners, as good as GHD's, but at a lower price. Can anyone recommend a brand, and where to buy them?
Many thanks.

Hiya
I have tried lots of hair straightners and I can honestly say that I think its worth investing in GHD's!
They will be money well spent.

I love my remingtons, although I have no experience with GHD's so in comparison they might be awful but I've never had a problem.
I've got these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4429041/Trail/searchtext>HAIR+STRAIGHTNERS.htm
and I brought a heat proof mat from eBay for a few pounds.0 -
I bought SHE straighteners on ebay for £45 inc delivery, protective spray and protective mat. If you google you will find they have very good reviews, and are said to be near identical to GHDs, including many comments from GHD fans.
I have never owned GHDs so all I can say is that after 1 month's use I am very pleased - they tame my long, unruly, thick, wavy hair and the straightness lasts all day and night until I wash it the next day.0 -
Hi there ,
I was holding out for a pair of GHD's but never afford them, then saw on MSE that "Aldi" do hair straightners for £7.99 with a three year warranty/guarantee.
I purchased them and having used GHD I can say these are as just as good as GHD. Yes they do take longer to heat up (about 5 minutes) but heat to 230 and do the same job.
I am very happy with my purchase:j :j

Another one to recommend Remington. Me and my two sisters have got just the basic ceramic ones and they are fantastic. We have used others (though I've not used GHD's) and found that they tend to pull strands of hair out when using them and just don't straighten very well whereas Remingtons are fab."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0

Thank you so much everyone for the suggestions! Sorry it took me so long to reply, I actually forgot which forum I'd posted the question on, and it took me ages to find it!!

hi serena,
remmington straight in a stroke are really good £44.99 in argos ,heats up to 230 ,floating plates heats up within 15 sec,i got mine at christmas and have never looked back .hope this helps .0 -
I've had a few pairs and the Babyliss pro 230 were quite good. I did try Remington bt found the design a bit awkward and kept burning my fingers, I could also hear that awful singeing noise when I used them.
I bought my daughter some GHD's for Christams thinking they couldn't be all that good but they are fab.0
