BEDWORLD posting own reviews on comparison sites?

I'm trawling the net looking for bunk beds or a guest bed, trying to find the best price- going through Quidco, pricerunner, kelkoo etc.
So, I spotted this bed and thought it was a reasonable price..
http://www.bedworld.net/beds_mattresses/BED20BUNBEDB--/Bedworld_Discount__Half_Price_Offer___Bunk_Beds_In_Wenga_Brown.html
but when I read through the reviews for the Bedworld place, there seem to be duplicate glowing reports about Bedworld, interspersed with other pretty awful ones .
pricerunner here: http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/retailer/25678/reviews
shopping.com here: http://www6.uk.shopping.com/xMR-305081~MRD-305081~S-1
There's nothing on Kelkoo, but the other reviews on them seem really bad.
thinking I'm a skeptical git, I googled a phrase, and it turns up on http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Bedworld_net__6591201 aswell!
If you found this, would you think it was worth reporting to shopping.com etc, or is it just a case of web-buyer beware??
I'm really hacked off now, because I hate anyone trying to pull the wool over my eyes.

Think of the entertainment value!
My favourites are hotel review sites-eg "The Manager Mr. John Smith was exceptional ,and I cannot speak highly enough of him ." etc.0 -
I should look at it that way, you're right!!
except it's really annoying, cos I really like the bed, and I can't find it anywhere else.
But I'm not going to take a chance on waiting till after Crimbo for the beds.:rolleyes:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Yeah, report it. In my thread on the Warnings board about Powermatic Beds of Leeds, there are lots of complaints about how they have charged elderly people up to £4k for vibrating mattresses and then a first-time poster chips in with how wonderful they are and how pleased her mother is. They got roundly slagged off, but not everyone is as clued up as MSE'ers, so I would report it - or post a review pointing it out.
In the last couple of weeks there have been two guys on grabbit posting "bargains" at their own company (Peugeot garage and a software co) - again, they were found out straight away so no harm done, but it is very dodgy and they deserve to be exposed. Good luck.
Rogue Traders on Weds night BBC1 8,30pm is about an adjustable bed company - I'm expecting it to be Powermatic.0 -
I came across this thread when I was looking up something about bedworld on google.
Just thought I'd say that I'd actually placed an order with them a few days ago. I came across this thread just after I'd confirmed the order, got a little worried but its actually been fine.
From what I've read of those reviews most of them seem quite old and they weren't happy about timescales of items that werent in stock.
I ordered 2 mattresses at around 2pm on Monday (17th Dec). Both showed up as available for next day delivery and I used google checkout (the promo offer with google at the moment is £10 off a £100 spend with bedworld).
I had a call from them not long after (on the number entered into google checkout). It was just to say that because I'd used google checkout and not their own payment system I wasn't taken to the section where you pick your delivery day etc so they wanted to know what day I would be in and could take delivery.
11am the next day (Tues 18th Dec) the two mattresses arrived. It was quite strange to see one of the mattresses compressed in an air tight bag and rolled up like a carpet (the way the manufacturer packed it not bedworld themselves).
When I followed the link to the bed the OP wanted it shows as in stock and available for next day delivery. In my experience there wasnt anything bad about it.
Although, I did also go through quidco (to earn 10% cash back) but unfortunately it hasn't tracked, maybe because I used google checkout. The £10 discount is applied by google and not bedworld (they receive full payment I think) so that shouldn't affect things... hopefully my enquiry on quidco will go through ok if I have to do one.... I'll give it a little while longer to track first of all.0 -
The bedframe that I ordered from this company was delivered broken. The replacement was then sent to the wrong address. They now expect me to take a 3rd day off work (which I cannot) & have refused my request to deliver on a Saturday.
Seems I'm not alone http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews-all-91230.html
Can anyone recommend a reliable bed company?0 -
Having been an MSE'er for a while, I can only say that there seem to be quite a few complaints about various bed companies on here.
I don't include Powermatic, now known as More Than Mobility, of Leeds, because they are not a bed company, in so far as they do not sell a genuine product. Rather, in my opinion, they are simply a set of people whose sole aim is to lie and pressurise the vulnerable elderly into parting with large amounts of money for a near worthless product.
I would strongly advise either making sure you see the bed first, or only buying from a reputable well-known company. I would spend a while searching online to find a good company with a sale on. Sorry, I can't give you a more positive reply, but bed companies do seem to be disproportionately represented in complaints.
I did notice that Argos have some half-price:

Also, there seems to be a proliferation of people on MSE ,posting threads asking for recommendations on bed companies?!
Conversations then are forced into creation where certain companies are consistantly slated , (not talking about Spuds powermatic company who deserve all they get).
People then are advised by people who claim to be "impartial" to "search these boards".
Of course the flaw in this technique,is they just pull up the previous conversations, with the same old contributors.Be wary of the manipulation on chat forums too.:D0 -
I give it 2 days now this has been bumped before a new poster appears here telling us about the fabulous service they had from bedworld....
Cynical? Me? Noooo.0 -
Well Im one of those posting bad reviews for Bedworld. Delivery date not met, terrible attitude on the phone, has to issue County Court Claim which they at first defended with made up lies and then before the court date settled directly.
I dont think any positive reviews from their own employees are going to cover up the masses of bad ones from real customers given their attitude to customer service.0 -
Kevin - why not post a new thread relating your experiences? Hopefully, it will then come up in agoogle search and will help to warn others.0
