Welcome Jay!
MSM sorry things are not great at the moment. I'm the same - food (specifically chocolate and crisps) is my drug of choice and I honestly sometimes wish I were a smoker which is absolutely ridiculous. A dog walk in the crisp morning sunshine sounds just the ticket.
My cat is the same - although she's frightened of her own shadow and scarpers under the bed when the doorbell goes, she's completely unbothered by fireworks, thank goodness, since we've had them going for the past couple of weeks, even during daylight. She can definitely hear them but just twitches her ears in annoyance, much like me.
Lush, you were very restrained at the party!
I didn't end up having the kedgeree yesterday as it was too much of a faff and I was v busy, had HM mushroom curry from the freezer instead. I finished the day on 19.5 syns because wine with Strictly, but because I logged everything yesterday I feel really in control, when weekends are normally a write-off. I can easily claw those 4.5 syns back by Friday - it's a good feeling!
Today:
B - Shredded Wheat*
D - Kedgeree!
T - Pork chop, Aunt B's carrot and swede mash (1), fine beans, Aunt B's frozen Yorkshire pud (2), gravy (3)
HEA - Milk
HEB - Shredded Wheat
Syns - Tea as above (6), sugar in drinks and on Shredded Wheat (4) = 10
*Syns online says for two normal sized Shredded Wheat: "HE 7.5 syns" - does that mean it's a HEB even though it comes to more than 6 syns?
Have a good day all! I'm off to continue with my DIY. Yesterday was slow but I feel I learned a lot and have got to grips with what I'm doing. Hopefully today will be more productive...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Hi all from France. Will be back home next week as have a problem with motorhome which DH can sort out at home but not while we're here and don't want to take to a garage as we know they are rip off merchants after last year's fiasco!!!
Tete the 2 Shredded Wheat are HEB even though they are more than 6 syns. Think the 7.5 is only if you are having them as an extra rather than as HEB.
The good thing about coming back to the UK is that it will be easier to be on plan. No more french bread and not as much wine, spirits and cider (not all at once, lol).
Welcome newbies. Well done losers and hugs for those who need them. Suspect I'll be in the latter group when I get back home, although won't be going to WI first week back, want to get a full week under my belt first so I won't be so far out of target as I know it takes much longer to lose it after a holiday than it used to. Just ask Maman!
Speak soon.

Welcome jay
. Do keep posting and the new challenge (and thread) will be posted soon for you to include your target for Christmas. Don't sell yourself short though. If you've already lost half a stone why limit yourself to a pound a week?
If I were you I'd set a modest target then aim to smash it!:D
Sorry to hear you're having to cut your holiday short denise but as you say, every cloud....:) and it'll be good to have you back with us.:A
You are absolutely right about it being hard to get back to target. It's taken me more than 4 months! I think there's a mixture of reasons. You're in the zone where you're trying to lose those last few pounds which are always the hardest (compared with the first few pounds starting out). Then there's the fact that I'd settled into a maintaining mode over 6 years where I could go over syns a bit every week and it didn't matter when I was in range. I think what it has taught me is to go back to basics and follow the plan by the book. Having plenty of Speed has never bothered me but I've been writing down every syn that passes my lips and ridiculous though this may sound drinking gin has helped!:rotfl:
I'm spot on syns so far: 3 days in and 45 syns used:). I'll probably go over a bit today as we're going to the pub in a while to watch football. We'll have a snacky lunch as the roasts are poor (mash and roasties and yorkshires with 'seasonal veg' limited to peas and carrots!). I'm hoping for a JP. Then I'll cook when I get back but I don't normally start drinking at 1. 30 p.m.:o No syns really needed for the ret of the week so I'll be doing fine.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB porage with HEA milk
L: JP with chickenHB steaks with mushrooms and onions and swede/carrot mash, roast BNS, potatoes and carrots, cauli and broccoli
Syns: extra HEB, syrup, mayo, wine, gin.......:eek:0 -
Wow that was a mammoth catch up read on the thread. Some absolutely amazing losses and thank you to GettingThereSometime for taking charge of the chart and for keeping everyone under check whilst I've been away.
Welcome Jay. New thread will be starting on Tuesday, but it's never to late in a challenge to join us. We are a friendly and extremely supportive group.
Had a pretty good but tiring holiday. Did end up with a short visit to Exeter hospital but it was generally a good week and we had some lovely weather.
Eaten loads though, and not good stuff. Still managed to have a reasonable amount of speed, but the syns don' even bear thinking about. Have walked lots and swum every day though. Will have to see what the scales say on Tuesday.
I am back on plan today though pretty much:
Breakfast - yogurt and grapenut - no speed because I hadn't been shopping
Lunch - pasta, meatballs and veg sauce
Dinner - speedy chilli
Snacks - quavers and strawberry laces (leftovers from the journey home)
HA - milk and cheese
HB - Grapenuts
Syns - quavers (3), strawberry laces (3), drugsZebras rock0 -

Can I please join the thread in preparation for the next challenge?
I joined SW (again) 4 weeks ago and have lost 7lb so far. I have a lot to lose but I'm only aiming for 1lb a week because I know myself too well!Moneysaverme wrote: »Good morning all,
Well after my good WI yesterday I had a Chinese and alcohol last night. Can't actually remember the last time I had either of these so I don't feel too guilty. I had a veggie dish too to I feel like I had some speed! It was good but onwards today... if I think of the amount of take always I used to have, it's no wonder nothing fitted and I felt like rubbish. I do feel like SW, in making me do a lot of cooking from scratch, really improves my overall health, not just the numbers on the scales if you know what I mean. I could have got the same results from slimming shakes etc but I actually feel quite healthy which is great.
BUBBS, I'll be making your lifesaver quiche today. I meant to tell you, I put blobs of Quark on top prior to cooking. I like quark and it gives a little bit of extra flavour and texture. It's so good for leftovers and so easy to make. Love it and I do appreciate it when you post images of your food, it always looks so good.
I'm sorry TWEETS that Poppy is affected by the fireworks. It's a rubbish time of year for pets though luckily my two dogs don't seem to register fireworks or thunder. Don't quite understand this as they go bananas at any other kind of little noise. I hope she is okay poor pup, extra cuddles in order I think and for any other lovely pets out there.
One quick point, any dog owners out there, be care of acorns, there seems to be an awful lot out there this year (I have never noticed them or had any issues in other years). One of my dogs got very poorly from eating them and had to stay in vet hospital and have multiple trips to the local vet in the last two weeks and a LOT of medication. He had gastritis and colitis and was a poorly pup indeed. He's almost recovered now but I have to be so careful where I walk now. Other people I have spoken to have also had issues and dogs in general seem to be picking them up this year. I think there must be a squirrel shortage!!
BEANIE, I was trying to work out how to quote but haven't quite managed it, but thank you for your encouragement :A. I think I remember a little while ago that you were close-ish to the elevens and trying to get there?? Am I right on this? I'm there but at the top end so am trying to slowly work my way down. The encouragement on here from everyone is great and I don't know what I'd do without it. I hope you see the elevens soon x
At the minute my weight is the only thing that is going well in my life so I am clinging onto that success. Pretty much everything that could go badly wrong is going badly wrong (apart from serious illness thank goodness) so I'm pretty impressed that I haven't hit the food big time which has always been my 'drug' of choice. My life may be a mess but I'm looking pretty good good on it!!:D I will keep smiling, keep plodding and I will turn things around. To anyone else out there gong through hard times for whatever reason, I wish you strength and courage and all good things x
Well, time is moving on so I must get out to walk the dogs now, looks like a lovely morning and I need to walk this Chinese and cider off! X
Made something new today , will post pics

Welcome back Kathrynha & welcome Jay and hello all!
Well yesterday didn't go to plan - was going to a friend's house for a get together as her son (who've I've seen grow up) got engaged recently. But I don't know why but I felt ill before I went and was only there 20 minutes before I had to go home ill. 12 hour sleep later I'm as right as rain!
On the plus side I saved myself from the excess of the buffet & alcohol & my daily weigh shows a mega loss ....just need to keep it up until next Saturday now haha.
Today we've been up mum's - hubby fitting some wardrobes for her & me fixing her phone that's she been moaning about for weeks....and even though I took her old wardrobes to the dump & fixed her phone guess who had all the praise heeped on him??
Dinner tonight will be a chilli that I've defrosted - hopefully to keep up the momentum that last night started.
Have a good evening everyone0
