Even if it is a consumer sale, the OP has no rights to cancel, since it was purchased in store. Their rights will be limited to whatever Howdens choose to grant under their own T&C's..
Sounds like classic buyer's remorse to me.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

You can't expect something for nothing. But £40 seems a bit high I would have expected around £20 tbh.0

They have 650 stores selling kitchen's more than anyone else if you go in to buy they will sell you one even if you don't no a staff member. They like to sell to a fitter so its fitted how it should be so people don't come back to them complaining.
Maybe your local one sells to the public but none anywhere near me do, my closest one won't even let the public in to the showroom unless either a fitter is with them or has at least arranged for them to be allowed in. How they are still trading is beyond me. And from what I've seen from people who have had kitchens from there the quality has been nothing to write home about.0 -
Howdens will not sell to the public, none in my area do. I was told not a hope in hell of getting anything without an account. I know a few people with accounts so got what I wanted but nothing convinced them to sell to me personally.0

Yup. Managed to get one end of stock decor panel from them when remodeling a kitchen without an account but have an account now as needed a few other things in order to finish the kitchen off and wouldn't sell anything without a trade account after my first visit.0

I went into our local Howdens a few months ago just to pick up a catalogue. They made it very clear that they did not sell direct to the public. I explained that a tradesman would be doing the purchasing/installing and they were happy to let me have the catalogue. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have sold me anything (even if I knew the receptionist).0

I spoke to howden's this morning & they were supposed to phone me back but I had no call. When the designer called to my house he asked if I knew a trader but when I said I didn't he then told me he could find someonr to put the sale through. However when I purchased the kitchen it was put through in my nsme. I have had no contract of sale. I was tild I would be emailed a copy of the design & that they had previously sent me emails of designs plus costs but I have received nothing. All I have is a receipt showing me to be £5950 in credit with them which was the cost of the units0
