One blackberry stripped of ripe fruits and ten foot lengths of unnecessary growth hacked.
One paving slab relocated so Himself doesn't get his feet wet when putting the washing out.

One first day back INSET decluttered. They seemed almost pleased to see me. Which is weird. Very weird. They've changed to a one week timetable, which is surprisingly sensible - and they're chucking the kids out earlier two afternoons a week, which sounds to be potentially quite a relief at times.

Himself is washing up, having endeavoured to lovingly prepare a Ding Dinner as soon as I walked in the door, as he'd been assisting the Bloke Next Door to break into their house, as their doorlock had jammed, so didn't have time to think about cooking.

I need more tea, a shower and the rest of the evening with the Idiot Cat keeping my toes warm. He is already fulfilling his part of the deal.

Dd3 (the bride) has just rung me she's been Drs and the rash on her tummy is shingles! Poor love I'm sure it's been brought on by the stress of everything she's doing.

best mention it to guests if they have cancer, weakened immune system or never had chickenpox etc.. complicatons are rare but it isnt very pleasant to have.. hope she recovers quickly.

Or pregnant and haven't had chickenpox. I was very, very ill when Offspring #2 was on the way because somebody passed it on; I spent a night in A&E on oxygen, it was so bad.

it's only an issue in pregnancy if they havent had chickenpox already.. and weeks 13-20 where there is a small risk of miscarriage.. it is more dangerous if the rash is on the face as it can cause blindness if it gets to the optical nerve.
Chickenpox is horrid to have as an adult.. my uncle had it at 40 and was very very ill for about a month and off work for 3 months!

  • I'm here - thanks Natty and Valli :A Hugs for you both xx

I, too, survived an INSET day - another one tomorrow!

Handed in the second resignation letter so finish in 15 weeks and 3 days . . . .

Tried out a friend's vacuum today - very impressed with how much it picked up but it was still quite heavy and didn't have a 'reach up to the ceiling stick' - front room, hallway and kitchen floors look better though :D

I can vouch for that. I had chickenpox when I was about 33 and in France with the sprogs - on holiday staying with a friend. I was very poorly and covered in blisters, from the top of my head to the soles on my feet and everywhere in between. It didn't help that the doctor didn't speak English and had a glass eye. It seemed to last forever and the sprogs only had about ten blisters between them.
