car hire with flights. Do you have to collect the car?

I travel to Barcelona annually and it amazes me that if I get a car with my BA flight I can save a lot of money. However neither of us are keen on driving abroad and prefer to get a direct transfer (otherwise car sits there gathering dust for two weeks).
What's to stop me purchasing flight+car but then not taking car? I've tried reading through small print but can't find any but there must be a condition somewhere???

  • The BA section of Flyertalk has always answered the question "no issues whatsoever".

Did you price up flight and hotel to see if that gave a similar cost advantage?

Technically you aren't acting as the fare booked, and could be deemed a fare abuser. There's plenty of fare abuse going on, with worse abuse than this example.
