When the property is transferred into the trust, I think your parents will find that the property will need to be registered at that point.
When the property is registered, the deeds will cease to be important.
It is possible to register without the deeds. So it is not necessarily a major issue. Perhaps get a solicitor to help with the registration.0 -
I believe they had tried land registry search, and the response from the search was 'Sorry, there is no price paid/value stated information available for this property'.
That does not mean that it is unregistered. It refers to whether there is any price paid/value stated
Do the search again and see if there is any information to 'select'“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
the owner may have stashed them in the attic.
Crikey, I'd forgotten all about attics :
Attic [at-ik] – noun : That place in a house where valuables such as important legal documents, paintings by Turner, Ming vases & old Stradivarius violins are placed before being completely forgotten about by the owner of the building.
