in Credit cards
I am not sure whether this belongs in the credit card section..however....
Basically I fell for a kind of scam this evening.....free trial of an apparently amazing skin cream - just pay for postage and packaging. I used my credit card as felt it safest. I then googled the product only to find there was a bit of a scam around the product.....i didnt read the small print which was faded so barely visible.....they will take almost £50 a month - every single month - from my card for a full size of the cream. I also read the cream was rubbish.
I rang barclycard and explained what had happened.....apparently they had deducted two lots of £4.93...barclaycard said they would monitor it etc etc.......
i then checked my emails and this company had mailed saying that i had also ordered the serum sample as well - which i did not. They said in their email that if i want to cancel this order i should not contact my bank first as i will be blacklisted from using my credit card for friendly fraud...................i am really worried by all of this....
Can anybody explain to me what being blacklisted is all about and is it possible.....confused......the company is junivive cream....(the advert for them started with them being on dragons den and all the dragons invested in them.......i thought it had to be legit if that was the case...but maybe they are just one big con company..

A retailer cannot blacklist you.
Check what you have signed up to, cancel the agreement and take it from there.0 -
Do you best to cancel everything with the seller. Then cancel the CPA with Barclaycard. Best to do both in writing (perhaps using the online facility in the case of Barclaycard). No need to get into a debate with Barclaycard as to whether it's a scam or not. You are entitled to cancel a CPA and that's what you are doing.
Agree, all this "blacklist" stuff is nonsense - they know you are entitled to cancel the CPA and want to scare you in to not doing so.0 -
Thank you both very much indeed. very helpful.0

they duped you once, they're duping you again.0 -
1. Cancel it with the retailer.
2 Cancel CPA with credit card.
End of the matter.0 -

First things first, there's no such thing as a financial "blacklist" - it's an urban myth invented by Dave down the pub. :rotfl:
Second thing, the company is a complete scam. Contact Barclaycard and tell them to reverse the charges and also ask about this £50 per month - they should be able to block it going through and/or cancel the card to stop payments on it.
I wouldn't bother contacting the company again. They're obviously playing you to try and keep the authorisation on the card alive, every month they keep you dangling they collect £50.0 -
Contact trading standards & action fraud...
Never heard of friendly fraud before?
Worried123 Can I ask why you titled your forum question Blacklisted?0 -

No "ask" about it, the law is the law. The OP should give Barclaycard a clear, unambiguous instruction (ideally in writing) that the CPA in favour of these people is cancelled and that any future transactions are unauthorised. Barclaycard must comply.
Once you start using the language of "ask/should".. then the situation becomes ambiguous.0 -

Thank you everyone...you have been very helpful....maybe its all my own fault for being so gullible..i should have googled the product and company before i sent off for the sample.
once bitten...i am not so worried now with your helpful comments and advice...i just had visions of being blacklisted from ever using credit again - i would never survive.0
