Child car seats

Can anyone advise me as to whether it is legal to have children aged 1 & 6 travelling in car seats in a convertible BMW, either with or without the roof down.
I have tried to look on line but can't seem to find out.
I am hoping that the answer is NO, but I want to be sure. Thanks.

It's legal roof up or down.

As above, the fact that the car is a convertible has no impact as to the requirement for child seats.

Some background if you check the posting history.

I always check posting history with this sort of question and it usually helps to understand the current problem, but I'm still stumped with this one.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question. Surely it's not only legal to have car seats for children in any car, it's also a legal requirement to have them. Every car, all the time.

The kids will need to be in an appropriate seat for their age. You may be able to put one of them in front if you can disable the air bag. The fact it's convertible makes no difference except that you may struggle to fit car seats in the back seats.

Friends of mine take a 4yo in a 3 series convertible with a car seat, so it's doable.

It sounds like they are looking for an avenue T to claim the ex is somehow big negligent towards the kids to either prohibit custody or force him to sell the car.
However, if he's using suitable car seats I don't think that'd work.

Do you have concerns about how the kids are being transported?

But the op said that they hoped it wasn't legal to have to have car seats in a convertible, although I accept that not every post is as transparent as it might be. It can't be that the op thought the husband was being negligent in using car seats in a convertible can it? That would be daft.

I once saw a woman getting petrol at a service station with two young children completely unrestrained in a convertible car with the hood down. I so regret not saying something at the time, but I doubt it would have helped. A person stupid enough to do that is unlikely to take my interfering kindly.

I wonder if the OP meant he/she hoped it wasn't ILLEGAL?

If you read this post the reason for the question will become clear:

tldr; OP's sister is having marriage problems and the OP is trying to find a way to drop their brother in law in it.
