overseas warranty

hy guys not sure if right place to post but need some advice -- im looking to buy my son a new phone he lives in south africa - the phone is going to be bought here in uk - if there are any problems with the phone when he is home in SA where n how do i find out where he takes it to to get looked at / its the new Huawei and i hope to buy from carphone warehouse - as i understand things if i had a issue with a phone i would take it back there but cos he is out the country im confused as what to do

    Huawei has a warranty page here; http://consumer.huawei.com/uk/support/warranty-policy/

    Not too clear if they offer a worldwide cover or not?

    Just remember that a manufactures warranty is more limited than your rights from the place of purchase.

    Consumer rights will be the vendor in the UK .
    Manufacturers warranty depends upon T&C of manufacturer .but usually restricted to the area of sale rather than worldwide .

    Motorola used to offer a worldwide warranty - however this is rare now. Send him the money to buy it in SA... anything else is a risk.

    Plus a UK phone will have UK firmware that may not know SA telecoms .

    Have you tried searching in S.A. to find a phone provider who will supply him a phone. Buy and have it delivered to him = job done?
