Yup the 14 day grace period was absolute myth. You could be prosecuted on day 1 of not having valid tax

I’m certain I was advised by Dvla last year 14 days allowed not too worry etc whilst I was waiting. On my docs to be returned and tax applied.

You had a short grace period if you applied by post before the deadline and were waiting for the disk to arrive. My memory is it was more like five days.

There was no grace period if you had not put in a postal appliaction before the old tax disc expired.
