What a mess they're in. 'CAPITA' is the name of the company who is dealing with PIP. I think ATOS (a french company I believe) made such a mess of things, and were paid millions, that they were got rid of.
Glad you have proof of posting the form, have the award letter and all the details of the person you spoke to.

Even though, it is such a hassle isn't it. Hope you sort them out tomorrow.;)
i phoned at 8 this morning and before i had even explained, the call centre advisor knew exactly what i was talking about.

apparently there has been a 'glitch' with those awarded 3 year support group, and ESA50 forms are being sent out in error.

she said it was already noted on my file that it had been queryed ( and rectified).

she said they will contact 'medical assessment services' and tell then to put a halt and that also my file would be flagged with a 'do not suspend benefit'

i should receive a written confirmation within the week.

not holding my breath but heres hoping ;)

Well nannytone, I do hope that they do sort things out and you receive written confirmation this week, which will hopefully put an end to this saga!
I wonder how many they have sent out (with this 'glitch') because not only does it stress people out, but the cost of this must be huge! Also, it's stress for many who aren't well and adds unnecessary worry.

    totally agree.

im not stressed, but then i am not ill and dealing with other issues.

she did say it only affects 'recent' 3 year, support group awards.

not that it makes things better

    glad you're sorted .... i feel i have a problem brewing.

i had an ESA50 at the end of april ( my first since june 2011) i completed it and sent it off. heard nothing, so in the middle of june i phoned to be told it had bounced straight back to the DWP.
7th July i received a letter saying decision made 1st july... support group.

roll on to 7th august. ESA50 drops through my door.
i phone and they say .... its been put onto the system incorrectly. next assessment due june 2020 and to ignore the form.

today i get a letter saying that i event returned my ESA50 and if it isn't back by 11/9 they will suspend benefit.

funny how these letters always arrive on a saturday ;)

    Hi Nannytone,

I was put into the support group on July 1st too & I'm visually impaired. As it takes DWP so long to send out large print paperwork (& not everything comes I large print) I often get "advice" from the helpline while I wait for the paperwork to catch up.

The helpline told me I'd be reviewed again in 3 years if there were no changes but the letter said I would only receive payments for 6 months....

I wonder if this is also part of the glitch? I was told 3 years was standard for people whose condition is very unlikely to change, or only worsen if it did change - is this correct?

It seems crazy to me that 3 years is standard for people whose condition is very unlikely to change or even deteriorate.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

That's probably related to payment of the Christmas bonus in December.

Means your weekly rate is £a apart from that week in December when it is £a+£10.

I suppose it'd be too much like common sense to write it that way.

As far as I know 3 years is the longest allowed award for ESA under current rules.

I highly doubt that. I was given 3 years the first time i was put into the Support Group. Last year i was kept in there without the need for a face 2 face assessment, although i was only given 1 year. My condition will never improve and can only get worse....

Thank you. The letter mentioned the Xmas payment in a separate paragraph but I didn't think about it affecting the payment schedule :D

It is all a bit mad, but I suppose it's impossible to design a system that works for everyone. Unless bionic eyes are available my situation certainly won't improve either; some things may get a little easier with lots of practise in my own home like making a cup of tea without making a mess that I can't see to clear up, but going into unfamiliar environments isn't likely to get easier.

I find that needing large print letters adds another layer of potential mix up. I assumed the DWP just enlarged the standard letter but they don't. Apparently they have to redo it from scratch. I know this as my last letter had me down as claiming JSA not ESA (their mistake they admitted) & the letter before that addressed me as a different gender :rotfl:

I shall see how it all comes out at the end of the financial year when I do my tax credits renewal as being put into the support group has affected my child tax credits. I've had more than the additional £36.55 taken off me each week which I didn't realise would happen.
