How bizare. Move from dla to pip - decision?

Options
On 31st March I had ESA face to face assessment but didn't receive a decision, just a letter end of May stating 'we have looked at your claim again following a recent change', and a rundown on how payment was worked out - no change.

Received a letter dated 5th June saying 'Your Disability Allowance is ending' and needed to phone them by 3rd July if I wanted to make a claim for PIP. Received the form to fill and return by 15th July.

I then received a letter from 'CAPITA' which said that they had looked at my application for PIP and to complete my assessment they would need to meet me face to face. My assessment appointment was 3rd August at my home.

On Tuesday 29th August (this week) I received the dreaded brown envelope through the post. I took a deep breathe and opened it. It was dated 22 August. All it said was that they now had the information they needed to deide if they could award me PIP, and they would write to me when they had made a decision on my claim!
I am now waiting for 'that' letter.

However, today I received a letter from the county council regarding 'council tax reduction scheme' (dated Wednesday 30/8/17) and in that they stated: 'I have recently been advised that you have been awarded PIP'. Then on the second page it gives a breakdown of what I am receiving:

You are receiving ESA (Income related)
PIP Daily living component (Enhanced Rate)
PIP Mobility Component (Enhanced Rate)

So the county council seems to have received information about my claim and award although I am waiting for a decision from the DWP! What will be in the decision letter I wonder? What and for how long?! This is really strange.

I have been so worried (as others) about this PIP move. I filled in the form myself, didn't look up (as many people do) at any 'point' system and how it works, as I didn't think that it would be helpful. Now, perhaps I won't be as nervous to receive the dreaded brown envelope through the post for their decision. However, I will not believe it until I see their decision letter, although it seems the council has received information of my award.

i found out that i had been moved into ESA support group in exactly the same way.

only difference is that i wasn't even aware that my ESA was being assessed

Hi nannytone, I've never come across this before. Isn't it strange. When I received a letter in March that I had an appointment to see a doctor for a face to face assessment for ESA, that was stressful. I never have received the decision from that face to face assessment.

Then in June having a letter to say that my DLA was ending and needed to apply for PIP, I thought here we go. To then have a face to face assessment for PIP at my home on 3rd August at 9.15am, to be honest, I wasn't holding out much hope although the woman who came out to assess me seemed very nice, but you never know do you!

I do feel some relief after receiving this letter today from the council, but still, I'm not certain that I believe it until I have their decision letter, if you know what I mean.

Today I received two brown envelopes, ESA and PIP decision letters.

I was still nervous when I opened them, but I now feel relieved as I have been awarded, as mentioned in the county council letter I received yesterday - although I wouldn't believe it until I received the decision letters from the DWP.

    ESA (Income related) support group
PIP Daily living component (Enhanced Rate)
    PIP Mobility Component (Enhanced Rate)

Looking at the length of the PIP award in the letter, before they look at it again, I was amazed as I was expecting about 3 years at most. In the letter it states that it is until August 2028 and will contact me after August 2027.

I feel such a relief, as the waiting, and wondering for the decision is stressful, as much as you try to put it at the back of your mind.

    glad you're sorted .... i feel i have a problem brewing.

i had an ESA50 at the end of april ( my first since june 2011) i completed it and sent it off. heard nothing, so in the middle of june i phoned to be told it had bounced straight back to the DWP.
7th July i received a letter saying decision made 1st july... support group.

roll on to 7th august. ESA50 drops through my door.
i phone and they say .... its been put onto the system incorrectly. next assessment due june 2020 and to ignore the form.

today i get a letter saying that i event returned my ESA50 and if it isn't back by 11/9 they will suspend benefit.

funny how these letters always arrive on a saturday ;)

Nannytone, that only gives you a week if they are expecting another ESA50 form returned! Have you written to them with the details of what has happened? This is so stressful for you and has been going on since April, especially when you believe that the decision was made on 1st July when you were given the news that you were placed in the support group.

I expect you will be making another phonecall tomorrow to try and sort it! Ask for the name of the person you are speaking to and if they tell you to ignore the form as the decision was made on 1st July, perhaps you could request confirmation by email? Or if you have a phone that records phone conversation, as you obviously need some proof of what they tell you - in case they send you yet another letter.

It is an awful situation to be in. I do hope you can sort it out soon. Before my face to face assessment for PIP on 3rd August, I received 3 letters within days of each other telling me that if I didn't turn up to the assessment they would stop payment. They stated the venue and time of assessment - the venue was my home, so turning up wasn't an issue!

Anytime there is an issue with the DWP I always write a letter (for written proof) so that when they reply you have a record. Did you return your original ESA50 by 'SIGNED FOR' post? This gives you proof that they received that form.

    Good luck

im not too stressed about it.

i have noted the time of my previous call and have the name of the person that dealt with my enquiry.

its a system mess up and they happen all the time.
but yes, i will be on the phone at 8am tomorrow ;)

everything with the first ESA50 is correct, i sent it signed for and i have the award letter.

as the fella on the helpline said .... it was input incorrectly.

DWP have rectified it from their end but unfortunately it was ATOS ( or whoever) that is waiting for the completed form. they obviously haven't been informed that a reassessment wasn't due

What a mess they're in. 'CAPITA' is the name of the company who is dealing with PIP. I think ATOS (a french company I believe) made such a mess of things, and were paid millions, that they were got rid of.
Glad you have proof of posting the form, have the award letter and all the details of the person you spoke to.

Even though, it is such a hassle isn't it. Hope you sort them out tomorrow.;)
