Thank you! It's still confidential really - so there's no excited posts appearing on facebook or anything. It's difficult not to tell people so on MFW people really are the first to know!0

Thank you everyone - it really has been a bit of a draining few weeks while we try and pull all this together - lots of "grown up" conversations have been had between me and DH because it is all going to be quite a big set of changes, one way or another. If it all comes together as we hope, it really will be worth the effort.
So, moneywise we are all over the place at the moment - I've bought new work stuff for the new job, we've put a reservation fee of £1000 on the new house and paid our survey fee of £200 (why we need a survey fee for something that hasn't even been started yet, I really don't know - it is the easiest £200 the Halifax will make from us, that's for sure!), and initial solicitor's fee of £125 to get things rolling. On top of Christmas, that's not been much fun, but thanks to the Swagbucks money etc, it has been doable. Hurrah for MSE!
We have to exchange within 28 days, so I envisage a little stress between now and then! The mortgage seems to be going through ok - they are happy with my new job cropping up in the middle of it all, so hopefully everything will come together, although I'd quite like a few extra days allowed for Christmas etc!
I've started clearing stuff - am still working my way through my stash of toiletries and have a great deal of satisfaction when a tube or sachet of something is eliminated from the pile - I really don't think I will be buying much in 2018, there is still some way to go with the stocks I have. I've also started working through the cupboards in the kitchen. I'm aiming to get food stocks to a minimum over the next few weeks and to buy only what we need (I do already meal plan, so will continue with this) and hopefully it will have the double whammy effect of saving money and not ending up with so much to move. There will also be a baking tray/Tupperware-without-lid/mugs I don't like type cull in January.
Christmas is fairly low key for us this year - it was always planned that way, and to be honest I don't think my stress levels could cope with a biggie this year -but next year we should be nicely settled in the new house and Christmas will be mega.
I really want to do my budgets for 2018, but with all that is going on, changes in salary and unknown deductions and the costs of moving always being more than expected, I don't really know where to start right now - we may have to muddle along for a few weeks.....bleurgh!!!!!
Happy Monday y'all!0 -
You will sort it as you always do. Good luck with it all.All that clutter used to be money0
