Vodafone extra data bundles

Hi All,

Wondered if anyone has ever had the same issue.
I've spoken to Vodafones' Facebook & Live Chat Teams who didn't understand where I was coming from, so I'm awaiting a response through their complaints form on their website but I'm expecting the same kind of response, tough..

I added some extra data to my account a few days ago, just for this month until the 5th September when my next billing cycle starts.

I purchased the additional bundles 1GB & 2GB on the My Account app and the extra data allowance showed up.

As I didn't want the extra data to roll over into next month I went back to the Manage Data area of the app and saw that I can stop it/ opt out from there, to stop it going into your next months bill (which is what I wanted, I only wanted the extra temporarily for this month).

There is no mention whatsoever that as soon as you opt out the extra data is removed straight away.
However as soon as you purchase the bundle, it states you will be charged straight away for it, however they have now removed it AND charged me for it having not used it all.

On the app it states.

"Add an extra 2GB UK data to your monthly plan.
You'll be charged your first monthly payment as soon as you opt in.
If you opt out, we'll remove the monthly charge from your next bill onwards"

I think this is very deceiving and they need to update that section but Vodafone don't seem to get my point.

I've also checked my next predicted bill and the charges for the bundles are on there too

Vodafone are saying I should have used the data first and then opted out, well the opt out process isn't very clear and actually makes out once you've purchased it you've paid for it to use, then you can opt out later to stop being billed in any further months!

Just to warn people Vodafone are still carrying on with this practise, as I've fallen foul of it. It wasn't even me who switched my data off, it was the person on the other end of the live chat thing. Three times they switched off my data, then put it back on again. Been charged £18 for 1GB and not even used 1MB of it!

  • I'm waiting for my next bill to make sure it's been rectified. They should be crediting me with £24. It is not at all clear how the extra data bundles work, and once you've paid for a Gigabite, Vodafone shouldn't be deleting it!
