cancel/rejoin SKY

I have a Sky+ Hd box and charged £38 for my package.

I would like a new SKY Q box which I will be charged £199. I note new customers get my package for £31 and a free SKY Q box

If I cancel? How long to I have to wait to rejoin Sky and get the new customer offer?

Apologies if this has been asked before. Thank you

You'll have to wait 12 months to be considered a 'new' customer (normal practice for all companies) but you'll get better than that anyway, have a look at:

The £199 is for the Sky Q 2TB silver box, the free one is the lesser 1TB box that has fewer features.

Edit: also have a look at:

Contract is up years ago, just months notice

They want £199 for Q Box 1TB, with my package £38 remaining the same

Tell them you are leaving and why .
Grab some other ISP prices as a point of reference .

I believe that the OP is just looking at Sky TV (Q) not BB, so not sure of the relevance of other ISPs?

Why do you need a Q box ? You will get a good deal using your current box, if you cancel and let the service go off.

I don't know why you have being paying full price, not being a new MSE forums member.

current box is on way out and I want a Q box

I guess I will take your advice and go down the cancelling route. A big discount which will go towards the cost of one

There are lots of HD+ boxes on Ebay, very cheap if you find a local one, meaning no postage charges.

If you buy another of these, then decide to leave, you can use the box to watch free satellite programmes, but Q boxes have to go back and the changes made mean you can no longer use an HD+ box (probably applies to Freesat PVRs,too).

I was going to ask why you think they'll charge £199 for the 1TB box but I just tried adding it to my account (I have HD+ too) and you're correct, however you can get the (much better) 2TB box for exactly the same 'setup' cost of £199. It defaults to the 1TB box for whatever reason makes sense to Sky but you can change it. I still wouldn't pay that mind.

If you're out of minimum term phone or live chat them and explain that you're looking for a much lower price but that your HD+ box is on the frizz, they'll do you a much better deal on both parts.
