Post Office Travel Card Redemption

Hey folks, my prepaid master card with the post office expired last month so I phoned them up to ask how I get the 200 euros thats on the card off. Seems they can't transfer it anywhere except a new multi currency card they now sell.
Problem with that is I need to put money on the card to open it for them to transfer the euros across. And that incurs a fee. The other option is I take the card and ID to the post office and they'll convert the euros at their rate and give me cash, so there's a fee again.
I actually want the euros or to be able to spend the euros, but having now been told straight there's no way to get your euros back from one of these cards once expired without paying a fee, I'm wondering if you know better please?
Thanks!

Too bad you let the card expire, there was a chance to unload it for free until then, and escape their lousy rates and fees forever. Whenever I'm in the Post Office I feel sorry to see the people lining up to be fleeced at the foreign currency counter, when there's perfect solutions available for free:
