Problem with new Nokia 3310

Copied across from the tech forum in the hope someone can help.

A friend has just been given a new Nokia. She can text everyone else and believes she is receiving texts from everyone else (although she has no way of actually knowing that) but is only getting my texts intermittently.

We have asked her to look at the block feature and she is sure I am not blocked, she has switched off and on again, and tried some other ideas people have suggested but it still hasn't solved the problem. She is very ill and this is upsetting her as she likes to keep in touch with me via text when she is not feeling up to chatting.

I am on a Iphone SE and with O2 and she is with BT on the Nokia 3310

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is she in a weak signal area? Sometimes, text messages can get delayed if the signal is weak, even if there is still enough of a signal to make a call.
If that is the case, I would suggest an alternative messaging system using WiFi, such as WhatsApp, but the new 3310 (I only remember the original one from way, way back!) doesn't run Android and you can't install WhatsApp on it.
Maybe a cheap Android phone would be more suitable, if she does have broadband as well?

    Is the Nokia unlocked?

If so try another SIM from someone that is not using EE, like O2 or Tesco. Obviously 3 is out of the question

Are the senders using emojis or similar that are being converted to picture messages and the 3310 hasn't been set up to receive picture messages?

No, we are both in the same signal area, we live about 15 houses apart!

No, she can get picture messages, that was why she changed her phone.
