Has anyone got good battery life with the Nokia 6300.

With my new contract came a Nokia 6300. The spec for the battery life looked very good but the phone does not live up to its written spec at all. The battery seems to need charging virtually every two or three days. How can this be when the spec is rated so highly? Independent reviews also claim it has good battery life but now I have this problem I am seeing on other sites many are complaining about the poor battery life.

cant remember which models it was but nokia had a fault with some. OH had a message about it on his phone. Might be worth checking their website to see if yours is one of the faulty ones. We both have the E61 and the battery lasts a good week DS has the 6300 and he is happy with the battery life on it.

Thanks I will check in case but I think that recall was on safety grounds if I remember rightly.

I've had my NK6300 just over a week (bought Tuesday the 2nd). After the initial out-of-the-box charging sequence I've only had to recharge it once on Saturday morning. Currently it's about 50% charged.

I'm not a very heavy user, although I did spend the first few days playing around with the phone a lot.

Quite happy with this Nokia I am; my first Nokia in about 6 years I might add.

I have a 6300 and the battery is poor. Three days is the maximum I've ever gotten. I can turn it off of a night, and when I switch it on the battery has lost a bar, whilst it's been off!? It never remembers words I put in the predictive text either, but that's another issue. To be honest I've used Nokia handsets for years and this is by far the worst. I decided to give up with it and bought myself a K800i.

Mine remembers words four letters long and over, but not two-three letter words. This is the same on 6300s that other people I know have.

Anyways, back to the battery - I'm a heavy user and just charge it up overnight every night, it's not a prob for me (just have to remember to take charger when I'm away from home for a few days!!!). Ref the losing a bar of battery life whilst the phone is off, it seems like the phone is best at checking the battery life on start-up. If I've been using it a while I may still have a full battery on the meter, but if I turn it off and on it has sometimes dropped. Not particularly useful but then the battery meter only has a few levels on show, not the six or so of some phones, and is only really a rough guide to battery life (not as good as my SE K750i's proper percentage meter).
If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.

Being interested in cell phones as I am, I did some experiments with battery life. I don't have a 6300 to hand at the moment but here are a few tips you might try. If some aren't valid, I apologise, I don't have the phone with me at the mo to check exact options. /also bear in mind that when the company rates teh battery, they probably have the phone configured to 'optimal' settings.

    1. Network Mode: Set to GSM, not UMTS or Dual Mode unless you really need 3G.
    2. Operator Selection: Set to Manual, then your network. No point having the phone do a search for the network each time as you'll be using the same network all the time anyway.
    3. Packet Data: Set to when needed.
    4. Display: Turn it down a couple of notches, it's amazing the difference it makes.
    5. Power out time: Don't set it too short. 5 seconds may sound great, but you'll use more power in the long run firing up the display when it powers off in the middle of reading a text message. 10-15 seconds is about fine.
    6. Turn off vibrate mode. It uses more power than the ringtone on full volume.
    7. Organise your file storage so the files used least often are on the memory card or hard drive.
    8. Switch off the phone when you know there's no signal - i.e in buildings, out in the country. It really drains the battery when there is little or no signal, as the phone ups the power output trying to lock onto a signal. Power output is lowest when signal is strong.
    9. Turn off keypad tones - who uses them anyway?
    10. Disable any auto-start apps, especially those that require internet access or that are constantly operating in the background.

    Hope this helps.
