I picked the parcel up yesterday & i'm going to return it today but i just noticed something -

They said that they'd send it out last Friday to be with me on the Saturday in time for my car going in to the garage on Tuesday (what with there being no post on Monday due to bank holiday).

Just now i've noticed it says 2nd class signed for on the parcel.

Since when did a 2nd class post sent on a Friday ever land the next day? From my experience sending and receiving 2nd class has 99.9% of the time been 2 days where 1st class is 1 day. That is of course not a rule. I've known them to take a little longer on both 1st & 2nd class but generally speaking the quickest they arrive is 1 day for 1st class and 2 days for 2nd class.

And this seller was going to have their parcel with me the next day??

    Since forever ;)
2nd class (2C) in RMs world simply means it isnt due next day.
so its more likely to travel by road vs air,if vehicles are at capacity then the 2C will be put aside in order to connect 1st class (1C) products.
Once 1C/2C products hit delivery then they are all due equally and no distinction is made.
  • :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I knew there'd be people who'd come in and say ... well my 19th class stamp always lands my items where they're going within half an hour of me posting :rotfl: That's why i specifically put in - in my experience.

Ok i'm no big time eBay seller but i have sent things in the past both 1st & 2nd class and i've also paid for things both 1st & 2nd class. Obviously if i'm in a bit more of a rush i'll pay the extra for 1st class. My comment is dating back years as i'm sure yours is also and from my experience 1st class generally gets to its destination either to me or to them the next day with 2nd class taking an additional day. This is in most cases.

Of course there's been times where i've sent something 2nd class and the buyer has left feedback the next day & i've thought wow that was quick, likewise there's been times where the buyer has been in touch the next day asking if i've sent out yet as they've not yet received it and expected it that day

But mostly - 1 day for 1st class, 2 days for 2nd class.

So if somewhere close to the majority of your items are landing next day on 2nd class then i just wish i had your version of Royal Mail instead of the one i use :)
  • I send second class (RM48 and RMT48). Most (75% upwards) arrive next day, with the exception of my Monday post. Those nearly all arrive on Wednesday - perhaps the weekend mail holds them up as per the post 22.

Where do you buy your 19th class stamp (and why?).

Before it's said, i'm not saying i post 2nd class on a Friday & they turn up on a Monday = 2 days. I actually don't really like posting over the weekend. I want my post wrapped up within the week.

You mean you haven't used them? :o

And because they're super cheap, no other reason
