Excuse me if this is a stupid question. When looking at the BA Gate 365 eStore, I see a special offer for 5 Avios per £1. So if I buy something through the Gate 365 portal, not only will I earn 5 Avios per £1 spend, I will also earn 1.5 Avios per £1 spent on my BA Premium Plus Amex, so actually I’ll be earning 6.5 Avios per £1. Is that correct? If so, where do those miles go, to my BAEC account or my Avios account? Will BAEC still earn the special offer Avios rates?

The Gate365 accrual and credit card accrual are separate. Gate365 purchases should show up in your BAEC account eventually.

Alternatively, you could use Topcashback. It usually has a higher rebate than Gate365 and let's you convert to Avios at 1 point per penny. Twice a year they increase this to 1.25 points per penny.

Avios.com also has a shopping portal.
  • Just to add, I usually get a "pending miles" email as soon as I've purchased via Gate365 portal. The Amex or Topcashback bonus come separately. In this [your example] instance you do get both.

    I've been Money Tipped!
It's possible to earn BA silver status without setting foot on a BA plane.

    How?

I've been BAEC Silver or Gold for almost 20 years, and have never earned tier points for anything other than taking a One World flight

    Four Iberia flights.

Is that operated or marketed by Iberia, or operated and marketed?

    IB planes.
    IB flight numbers.

Can also be any One World carrier where the flight has a BA flight prefix.

Why you'd want status on a carrier you don't use doesn't make sense to me.
