Colour for a new kitchen

I am having a new kitchen. Design is nearly there but cant decide on colours


What have people gone for?


is ivory dated? Is grey going to last?

We're going for grey Benchmarx units and quartz white worktop. I'm not to concerned about it dating as it's probably the only time I'll ever get to choose a new kitchen, so am having what I like!

I don't really like white kitchens, when we were looking a few years ago it was either white or wood, having had limed oak in my last two kitchens I didn't want the same again. I don't like normal wood lol.

We went for a stainless steel one with the tall cabinets in black. Black worktops and floor, black cooker and hob. The wall cabinets are frosted glass.

Grey is the new beige, and I hate beige.... Next years "in colour" will be something different, so grey will look dated very quickly.

I went for a light lemon yellow on the walls, pale blue ceiling, and plain slab oak doors/drawers.

I'd go for white personally it looks clean and doesn't really date, you can easily ring in the changes with colour on the walls or accessories as the years go on.

Ivory is often the default spray colour for wooden doors, so if you're having real wood with a grain and you choose some other colour, it may well be sprayed over the ivory.

This leads to 2 things:

• the grain is less visible as a second coat fills it in

• at wear points, the ivory may show through in time

We noticed point 2 at a display away from the kitchen company site, which had received fairly heavy 'public interest' for a year or two.

What colour tops with an Ivory kitchen though. I don't want black

With a wooden floor and doors, we didn't want any more wood.

We went with cream gloss doors with silver handles, with dark wood worktops.

I want quartz or granite


I want to keep the kitchen light so don't want black


What would you have with white shaker kitchen
