Surely for the same sort of money you are paying you could get an amazing Uk manufactured kitchen. Probably just as good and you get that nice feeling you will be supporting jobs in this country. The two companies I've been looking at diyKitchen and a solid wood kitchens of Christchurch both look great products for very competitive prices. both built in the UK and from what I can see use the same of better materials then many other over priced kitchens.

You will think so but sadly this is not true. Magnet quoted me £28000 for a very poorly designed kitchen and it was not even their top of the range. The appliances were low range (AEG) and they wanted me to believe that they gave me 50% discount as I was very lucky to come in the sale week.
For both German kitchens, Schuller/Stormer, I was quoted £25000 for much much better designs and all appliances were Siemens which are higher qulaity.

Nobody goes to Magnet expecting their prices to be rock bottom, nor their designs any good. So your German versus UK comparison should be based on more than this. To give balanced, informed information to all fellow mse forum users there needs to be a frank appraisal of a fundamental concept.

People are giving up their time and expertise to help provide you with answers. A repeated answer to people who post is to seek a quote from diy kitchens. The fundamental question to you is what price did diy kitchens quote you when you took your German kitchen layouts to them?

Your answer would provide useful, and beneficial advice to all fellow Forum users. So come along, open up and tell us, please.

I never tried DIY kitchens because I dont want to go down the route of DIY. I am happy to pay good money for a good quality kitchen and without the hassle of DIY

No one suggested you fit yourself. Indeed, I'd suggest you don't, but that wouldn't rule out any supplier.

I definitly will not consider fitting it but even deciding on design, unit sizes and placements will be overwhelming for someone like me with no experience
  • 25k for a kitchen! Do what Furts said, I'm sure a quote from Diy kitchens will be half of that for the same if not better quality. I was told that most German kitchens use MFC for their doors as well, which is far inferior to MDF and solid wood.

Its hand painted oak all the way for me
  • Much of the above is poor advice from what sounds like misinformed personnel.
Germans have a reputation for a reason, and yes there are better specs than others, much like walking into bmw or Mercedes.
It’s hard to compare many kitchens, but there is a reason every manufacturer tries to copy the Germans.
Störmer are a great product, with actually one of the most premium specs across the board.
I believe they are now the only kitchen company in the whole industry to offer waterproof carcasses and water resistant laser edged doors.
I think most would agree this is premium?!
They also have a solid back unlike most German manufacturers.
The spec is great and their price point is perfect.
In my opinion they offer one of the best kitchens one the market. #justsaying

Yes, well-spotted; we are really all members of MSE staff posing as kitchen designers and members of the DIY fraternity.

Alas, now our cover is blown, it'll be back to flipping burgers at Maccy D's!
