  • Payday today and first payment of £77.48 towards OP. I am contracted to work 4 days a week so our budget is based on this and any extra will be going towards the mortgage. I am going to set a target of having £3000 saved by 31 December. That works out to be an extra £150 pm on top of the regular £600. I do like a challenge.

Back at work today after yesterday bank holiday and a NSD for me. I decided to wash one of our curtains in the dinning room and it has shrunk in the wash. So now I have a very short curtain and it has also dyed the lining pink. Not sure if I should wash the other one now so that it matches haha. May need to budget for a new pair of curtains.

  • Another 2 NSD's this week so that's 3 in total. Mortgage payment came out today so just waiting for mortgage account to update to see how much the mortgage has reduced.

Been food shopping tonight and spent £57.43. Like to keep weekly food shopping to under £60. Also put £45 fuel in the car. That will cover travel to work next week and a trip to the city tomorrow.

I think I have managed to get my phone unlocked so will cancel contract in the middle of September and look forward to saving some money.

    Hi Betterthanever

We are hoping to be MF in 5 years but I think that would require an overpayment of £800 pm. So that's an extra £200 on top of our regular £600pm. We need to tighten our belts if we are to do this but we give it a go.

  • We had a nice day is the city yesterday. I got my hair chopped and we visited DH's parents. Then managed to get the shed painted in the afternoon on a rare sunny day.

Total spends yesterday was £63.90 on hair cut and products. I know it's expensive but I only get hair cut every 3 months and it's my only treat and all budgeted for and £11.78 on lunch.

  • Payday today and another £50 towards the OP. Also a NSD. I aim for 4 NSD's this week.

  • Well done on the nsd and the op. It's all good stuff!!
  • It's been a bit boring this week at work but picked up today when DH texted to say he had been paid a week earlier than we expected. So that's £645.24 sent to the OP pot. Total now stands at £772.72 and we are only 2 weeks into this journey but I expect things to slow down a bit for the rest of the month.

The mortgage less savings is now £58682.92 over £1000 reduction in 2 weeks. I wish we could pay this off every 2 weeks but it's a marathon and not a sprint. Also have had 4 NSD's this week but must go food shopping tomorrow.
