    Morning all

Living room done to level 2 and a bit (I cleaned the mirror in the hall ;))
Kitchen done too because I can't bear not to do it on a Monday. Can't cope with being pushed out of my rut!

Congratulations to the pregnant people and welcome to the newbies and welcome back to the returners :)

Washing on the line but it's cold out there and no breeze so it's just sulking.

I think I'll have to give in and put the heating on later to dry it.

Why do Asda insist on putting single items in one solitary carrier bag? It really annoys me, they could just bung everything in one instead of 10 it's not as if there's a risk of cross contamination, although last week they thought it was ok to put cooked meat in with my raw chicken duuuuuuuuuuuuuur! Can't wait to go and get my own I much prefer it.

I'm cracking on with the living room, not much left to do in it now. I'm gonna have to have a walk to the shops later too.

Juliejim Sorry no cake in this house either, although I do have Penguins if that's any use lol

Well the basic inventory of the livingroom is done - and I even priced up the cheapest alternative (or the item itself) in the latest Argos cat. Just going to do a list of my CD's / DVDs (just so I know what we have) as I declutter them. Then I'm going to attack my books and have a sneaky peak through DD's to see if there are any of hers that can go. ;):o But first, a nice cup of coffee and another 15 mins (or so) or photo sorting on the computer  I'll be done....by Christmas at this rate :rotfl::rotfl:

Well, I'm being very anti-establishment and doin g my kitchen today.
My DH works from home in the lounge but goes to work monday nights and then is away , when I do the lounge etc on tuesday, ....it works for me.
Of course cause I have no set list I'm just going through the cupboards I haven't done yet and doing my drawers.
Will then do the rest of the 'kitchen usuals'.
I'm also going to pull out all the stuff from the cupboards and see what needs using up and get some baking done.

pigpen: could I have a copy of your carrot cake recipe? We harvested the last of our carrots yesterday so I thought I'd bake a cake with them.

Righto, finished my cuppa, going to finish up in the kitchen. Catch up in an hour...

Oh and all this talk of babies is making me soooo broody. I want more...

    Morning everyone,

better type quickly, or it will be afternoon...!

Car in for MOT today, so quietish day at home. I shall be sticking to the kitchen today, as [strike]I[/strike][strike]forced[/strike] my children offered to tidy the sittingroom yesterday evening, so a quick dust and vacuum will do it. Tomorrow I shall probably be out all day as well.

Just tumbling a few bits of DS2's clothes ready for his exchange trip on Wednesday - he's getting excited about it now! I have to get up at 5.15 to get him to Dover in time for the ferry... and I have a meeting in the evening, so I think I shall be sleepwalking on Thursday.

    Welcome to all the newbies!

    FrankieM - thank you!!

I bet you saw that in the item description and decided that was a good way of getting out of cleaning the oven!:rotfl:

No it doesn't say in the description they are latex gloves.. it says 'protective gloves' hence I checked before touching them!! I did suggest they add 'latex' to the description.. so if it appears there.. I did it!! lol

Carrot cake with lemon cheese frosting.
You need approximately 3 large carrots (540g)
    1 cup (250ml) vegetable oil
    1 1/3 cups (250g) firmly packed brown sugar *
    3 eggs
3 cups firmly packed, coarsely grated carrot
1 cup (120g) coarsely chopped walnuts
    2 1/2 cups (375g) self-raising flour
    1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    2 teaspoons mixed spice
    ~
    Pre heat oven to 180c.
Grease a deep 22cm-round cake tin. Line base with baking paper.
Beat oil, sugar and eggs in a small bowl with electric mixer until thick and creamy.
Transfer mixture to a large bowl, using a wooden spoon, stir in carrots and nuts, then sifted dry ingredients.
    Pour mixture into prepared tin.
Bake for about 1 1/4 hours. Stand cake for 5 minutes in tin, then turn cake onto wire rack (right side up) to cool. cover the tin with tin foil to prevent the top burning.
Spread cake with lemon cream cheese frosting.
    Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting
    30g butter softened
    80g cream cheese
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon rind
    1 1/2 cups (240g) icing sugar
Beat butter, cream cheese and rind in a small bowl until light and fluffy
    Gradually beat in icing sugar.

    TIPS
I Pecans are nice if you don't have walnuts
For the cream cheese I use full fat philadelphia.
Its very tasty without the icing too.
