Grassed up to the DVLA?

Unless there is something that we aren't being told I'd be surprised if the Consultant or GP had informed the DVLA after a single missed appointment.
My understanding of the rules (given that it isn't my area) is that if a Dr (or other health professional such as a nurse) becomes aware that a patient is driving while medically unfit to do so they should approach the patient in the first instance. If this fails to work then they should tell the patient they intend to write to the DVLA and follow through on this unless they reasonably believe the patient has stopped driving.0 -
Better to send them a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act to find out who dobbed him in. Sounds like it might be somone in the medical profession being over zealous and acting contrary to the guidance issued by the GMC over such matters.
A SAR wouldn't disclose 3rd party details like that and in any event data being processed for law enforcement functions is exempt from disclosure under SARs (schedule 7 DPA if you want to read in detail).0
