What machine are you running?
It's compaq, can't remember model number. It is pants but still works despite being 10 years old. I do need to get a new one just don't want to spend the money at the moment. I need a new printer as well. So eventually I will be looking for a pc/printer package.0 -

I would need a model number.
You don't need to spend a lot for a better PC. I spent £40 on a PC that was six to seven years old compared to the ten year old PC it replaced.
But let us begin with the full model number of the current machine.
Try:While holding down the Ctrl and Alt keys, press the S key on the keyboard. The Compaq Support Information window appears. This window contains the model number of your HP computer. If your computer has the HP Support Assistant, you can find the model number at the bottom of the main screen.0 -

To install Windows 7 for HP to your machine, you will need one of these;
already in your PM inbox.
But before you install you'll need to update the HP Motherboard.
To do so you'll need a empty USB Flash drive and to make it bootable thus;
Pluo in USB drive and note the drive letter created.
Download, save and run Rufus
Choose the options below, but leave the Defaults at whatever they may be.
Next,
Firmware link Download, save and unzip.
Drag the two files within on to your newly created USB Flash drive.
Next you need to figure out how to boot your machine from USB.
Do you know how to do so?0
