I think it came with 512 RAM to which i've maxed now to 4GB.
What BIOS version are you running?
R01-C0 is the latest. You can find it here opened up to achieve it's full potential.
BIOS updates are not without risk, so perhaps you can attempt it when you are ready to move on to a new PC.
Amongst the benefits of the updated firmware is that it will allow you install Windows 7 for ACER at not extra cost.
But I wouldn't be keen to update it within Windows. If you do, go into the BIOS setup beforehand and switch Write Protection and Boot Block protection off. .
Updating instructions to be found in the Flash SOP PDF.
Flashing via DOS is often safer. If you prefer that way, let me know.0 -
So how does your average member of the public get a free, legal Windows 7 licence then?
When you apologise for your presumptuous remark, I might tell you.
First the slightly rude, presumptuous remark, followed closely by the slightly confrontational follow up question...
You are quite likely to be ignored, if that is the best that you can do.0 -

T'was neither. It was a post on a thread, to which you did not reply nor acknowledge.0 -

Good grief! Keep your hair on! :rotfl:
You said this:If you decide to go the money saving route, it costs nothing to install Windows 7.
And kept suspiciously quiet as to the source of this endless supply of free licences.
Sounds a bit iffy...0 -
You can download the Windows 7 install file legitimately from Microsoft and install it using any key. Then use the automated phone activation service to activate it.
You don't need to worry about the FBI coming and breaking your door down, that is never going to happen. Heck you can even use Windows 10 indefinitely without activating it.
Microsoft are only bothered about market share and the extra money they will (hope to) make from you buy crap from their app store afterwards.0 -

Quite the drama going in in your mind."Suspiciously quiet". "Endless supply of free licences". "Sounds iffy". All figments of an ever so slightly paranoid imagination?
Note that you are the only one jumping to conclusions here.
IMO a balanced mind may have simply asked "how?" in the first instance, before jumping to wild and unfounded assumptions.
In fact I had already told all in post #43, a good hour before you asked your 'average joe" question. Seems that you can't see the trees for the forest.
It takes all sorts I suppose.0 -
