Is this a good school based on A levels results??

My Son is interested in attending this School for 6th form. I have checked this Year A levels results and I am not convinced. If you had to pay would you send your child to this school. The school has an outstanding from ofsted. But it looks like 50% failed to get A to C is that quiet high. Thanks. A levels only

A*-B 49%

A*/A 24%

A*- E 97%

Where did you get your stats from, as it does not mention C grade?

    51% got C or below, but 49% A*-B is good, especially nearly 1min 4 getting an A or A*!

Why not just google the national and region averages and compare it?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • The others schools I did a check on had 70% to 85% A* to B. This one had 49% so that big difference.

Your stats seem low for a private school.

  • It seemed low to me as well but the school has been rated outstanding by Ofsted over 5/6 years ago. They haven't been back to inspect since then. I want to look at different schools but they have too many students applying for the same course and schools. I am waiting for the GcSe results to be publish to check whether or not I will let him attend here. Many of the schools in my area are doing rather well. I would of let him go here but the results and ofsted not inspecting since 5/6 years ago have put some doubt in my mind.
  • Sorry for the block on my phone keeps on going on auto word thanks.

It's not great for a private school. Are they not selective? My old school had 30% A*, 65% A*/A, and 100% A-C.

I wouldn't judge a school solely on results, but with A Levels they're there for such a short time they are more important than at GCSE and below.

Also, how many pupils were studied for take A levels and how many actually took the exams?
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
  • That was the only results they showed on the website. It would look worse if they showed it like that. I don't think students aim for a d and beyond. I personally thought most retook after grade d to z.
  • Its says 200 people attended but I wouldn't know that information I would have to request it as they are closed for summer holidays.

It would be very unusual for students to take an A Level course and not take the exam. It's reasonable to assume that figure would be negligible.

Barneyco, with the private school look at how many children come into the sixth form from other schools. It can be quite isolating when everyone else is already in friendship groups, and I'm sorry to say that some will judge those that have been at state schools.
